Potters were very respectable people and could earn a very good living. They also had the right to hide their pots and not teach anyone about the art. Another reason it was helpful was because Parvana picked up other characters along the way. We learned a lot about Asif and Leila from just where they were living and where they were living.

I learned that during this time people were separated from their families, their homes were destroyed and many lives were lost. I also learned that it was not a very nice place to be living.

I am able to discuss more easily about books and able to ask questions easily. I also learned that it is often helpful if you read the authors note. I have been doing determine importance a lot too and I can now see a important event quite easily. I can also easily ask questions to dig deeper.

I want to focus on making connections because I can make them but I am quite bad and normally they are quite bad connections. I also only do a little like 3 every week.

I think we took turns really well and that we didn't really interrupted each other unless someone got something wrong. We also went really deep into the notes that we discussed and we got questions off the original. We never really said that someones wrong or anything like that. All we did is say I disagree to Tom because e.t.c.
We all said things and we all took turns unless somebody had nothing to say.

I think we could of got a better way of talking because we kind've said, oh lets uhh you say a note. I think we could of been more formal.

I want to continue to read HF books but I have a list of books that I like to read. So when I finish them I probably will be in grade 6 and I will have different reading opinions. I think that I have already read other HF books and I think they are really deep so I think I might continue them on my kindle. I also think that at first I thought HF war really boring so I think that a lot of people will think that at first so thats why people might not want to continue.

I improved on asking questions and determining importance. I felt that once I realised how to use these strategies it was a lot easier to ask open ended questions. It also gave me a chance to write a wide variety of notes and not just use one strategy.
I would like to focus on determining on importance. Even though I have improved I feel like I need to put it to practice a bit more. I know its important to determine importance because then you can look back and see key events. I if start to do this I can see how the characters have changed from the start of the book.
Something that well in our book clubs was that our discussions were pretty deep. People had brought really good notes and people weren't afraid to voice their opinions. I think since we had a wide range of personality people were willing to disagree as well as agree.
Something I could improve on next time is improving my body language. I noticed when watching the video of our discussion I was constantly leaning on my hand or sitting back.
I think I would probably continue reading historical fiction. The only problem is before the unit I had found it quite difficult to find historical fiction books. I think that maybe that could just be because I did not know that much about historical fiction. But to be Fair, it is really hard to find historical fiction books in book stores. I think this may be because people don't perhaps know as much about historical fiction as they know about other genres. It also may be because the book store may think that people don't want to read historical fiction even if some customer may want to.

The strategies I want to work on during the independent reading project is asking more questions and predicting more things.
I think that as a book club, we worked quite well together and we did not get off topic that much. I also think that we were really good at digging deep into each note and everyone had a chance to contribute.
A thing I could work on is reading to the right page and not reading ahead.
I think I will read HF books by choice because I find them really interesting, and I end up learning things about the era. I also found that I am really hooked on HF and I will continue to take similar notes to the ones in this unit in the future.
