The characteristic that had the most influence on the Mespotamian society was Social structure.

Because when you think about it, imagine if there was no kings, and how disorganized everything would be. And considering all the roles help all of each other, like the commoners farm to keep a stable food supply for the community, and the merchants help get money and trade for materials. So everyone has their own roles that help the society in different ways.

“A kingdom would only prosper if the king pleased the gods. Next in Mespotamia’s hierarchy was the upper class: Priests, priestesses, and educators. There was a big middle class, made up of common people like merchants, artisans, and builders. Enslaved people were lower class.”

Even if the middle class isn't as rich, or famous, they still provide for Mesopotamia and help them to succeed as a whole, and to survive as a community.

All are a community and are in the world to survive as a group, and where would their group be without organizations, leadership? Probably nowhere, that's why social structure is the most important

Imagine the civilization where there were no scribes to teach, people would be clueless have the time, making their community vulnerable and weak. But with the roles and structure of the people we can tell who is who and kids still learn.

However one could say Technology is definitely the most important, and Social structure is the least important. They might say where would Mesopotamia be without those? They could say everyone could be equal without certain classes and ranks, and everyone could do, say and think as they please, without laws and kings to punish them. But we know that social structure is the most important because without the roles and responsibilities of everyone society would crumble.
