There are lots of hypothesis that try to explain this, but the real reason is beacuse of a translation mistake. It sounds incredible! Lots of people investigating why she is the patroness of musicians and is because of a dumb translation mistake.

In Saint Cecilia's case, they tried to chocked her cloistering her in her house and increasing the temperature of the therms. She was 3 days shut up in her house and she didn't die.

Since the heat did not kill her, a executioner went to Cecilia's house and attempted to behead her with 3 axes blow in her neck. He just made her 3 wounds.

3 days later, Cecilia died because of bleeding.
