As you can see in the picture there is a portrait of myself smiling, a picture of an airplane, a Bulmer’s bottle, friendship, a brain and a briefcase. All of these small pictures will be explained and why they have important significance to me and how they will help me in my practice. The portrait of myself smiling is to symbolize my mental health. From attending college and having a daily routine of waking up and attending college each day it has had a very positive impact on my mental health as it has kept my mind active and pushed away any negative thoughts that may have tried to enter my head when being unproductive. The small piece of art of the airplane symbolizes opportunity for me as I believe from attending college and finishing my course this year this will open up so many opportunities in my life and careers for myself and will allow me to embark on my adventure as a social care practitioner in life. To symbolize my career I have drawn a briefcase this is to symbolize how all of my hard work, study and dedication will pay off and help me progress further in my career. For knowledge I have drawn a picture of a brain. This symbolizes all of the knowledge I have learned from this semester that will allow me to become a better social care practitioner in my future career and during my time in placement. I drew a picture of all of my friends and a love heart surrounding us and connecting us as I believe having a loving supportive group of friend while away in college is a great supportive system to help in difficult and essay times or when you feel you need to talk to someone or as a shoulder to talk on. I have placed bottle of bear on this creative piece as I feel it symbolizes for me my friend night I have on a Monday where myself and my friends go out for a nice meal and one drink limit to help us wind down and to keep the work life balance, although alcohol can cause problems I believe the one to two drink limit is the best approach and it helps to reduce alcoholism. Overall creating this piece has helped me to realize the importance of all of these areas influences I have in my life and how they impact me sometimes me negatively and positively. I feel this would be an excellent piece to create with a Clint as it will help them to realize all the amazing support and good things they already in life when feeling down or unhappy with life. This for me personally helped me to realize that I do have amazing skills and opportunities around me.

We both saw the opportunity to draw a love heart as this symbolises love and this is a very big part of live. This particular creative activity was a great way to establish team work skills and to figure out how well you work alongside someone else and collaborative work. This way a great way to critically assess how well you work in a team and what your skills are or what you need to improve. To me this symbolized many different professionals form many different areas all coming together as a team and working with a client. This would be many different professionals give their own professional opinion from their area and all discussing and coming up with a solution that is within the best interests of the client. This is to promote working together and respecting other professional opinion and your own without any conflict arising. I felt very happy during this to be working with someone as it was nice to have company and another set of hands and mind to dissect a situation. For me being actively creative is a way to let my academic part of my brain to rest and allow my creative side to come in to play. I feel I could work a little bit more on my team working skills by completing more creative skills activates with friends at home. This modules has allowed my perspective to change on social care as I feel it has opened up my mind to many creative ways to express yourself and explore many new learning methods and who I am creatively as a person. This can be brought in to practice in many ways like workshops with clients, team work, and self-care for yourself as a professional.

The reason I choose a sheep for this piece of creative work is because I am from a town near the curragh and my house is located on the curragh. Ever since I was a young girl I have been fascinated by sheep and their relationship with other sheep and how they stick together. I found this represented me because I am the type of person to stick together with my friends of family during difficult times or during happy moments in life. I also feel that sheep symbolize life as every spring they bring new lambs into the world. Life to me personally is a very special thing it is like an adventure and Ferris wheel that never stops going around. The Ferris wheel symbolizes our life cycle and the adventure symbolizes all the opportunity’s and places we go in life. A sheep also reminds me of home when I am far away from it. During my time working on this creative piece I found the space very relaxing to work in and felt very comfortable. I found this piece linked into practice as it always for clients to open up and explore who they are as a person and describe who they are as a person in a fun and creative way as sometimes it’s very difficult to come forward and introduce who you are as a person. My experience with working on this activity was a very positive experience as it allowed me to open up as a person and engage with other classmates. This activity also helped me to recognize my strength in creativity and how I could work on them or improve them for myself. This particular piece of creative work would be an excellent way to work with a service user as this will promote critically assessing themselves and filtering out the good and bad personality traits within themselves.

After watching this video it has helped me to realise that the creative art can help people with dementia as they have proven from reach that everyone has their own ways of communicating. Many people may communicate verbally or by engaging in sports activities etc. this particular activate has made me come to the conclusion that this not only benefits their wellbeing but also helps them to stay connected to their communities and also feel like they are. This activity can allow for the communities to participate In arts with demit patients and allow for them to understand how they function and process different things in ways we don’t as sometimes people find it hard to understand and communicate when they are not in the situation themselves or engaging. This particular project can help to practice in a non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive way and acknowledge and respect the differences in beliefs and cultural practices of individuals or groups it can help to change awareness and understanding of dementia for people when reading up on this research project as it provides a range of information on how to engage and participate alongside these service users in social care.  This project is also focused on outcomes for individuals within the community rather than the whole community as one. This project meds the needs of the service user group by focusing on each individual and their own characteristics and traits as a single person it helped to bring forth many ideas on promote the wellbeing and getting service users physical active is well. This was a great project to bring forth attention on coming up with new methods of proving care for this service user group. The reason for drawing the earth is because it symbolizes everyone from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs to work together to bring fourth a great outcome to meet the needs of people with dementia.
