It was found in many cases that staff were wishing to care for patients in the best way, but unable to raise concerns or prevent service demands from extremely having an influence on the quality and good service of care for patients.
• The delivering of care on Apple Tree Ward, a medical ward, was insufficient and there were many risks of safety to the patients. This impact required critical action to discuss the concerns of the inspection team.
• There was a deficiency of paediatric cover within the A&E department and theatres that meant that the service of care for children in these departments was, at times, increasing potential risks to patient safety.

Further reading through the CQC report the findings are that Hinchingbrooke Hospital was understaffed. 'There was a lack of paediatric cover within the A&E department and theatres that meant that the care of children in these departments was, at times, increasing potential risks to patient safety.' This is rationing other members of staff to different departments and not providing the standard of care that should be provid to patients. This is down to mangers not recruiting or training the right number of staff to cover each area that is low on staff.
