What to expect in week 1:
-Log in to your classes
-Live Sessions are happening for you to meet your teachers and learn about the course.
-Your goal for week #1 is to log in to each of your online classes to see how it works, navigate the syllabus and course information, and to complete your Pre-tests for each of your classes.  Please have these pre-tests done by Monday 08/21/2017.

The Weekly What's Up (WWU):
Similar to last year, we will meet up as a homeroom once a week for 30 minutes to share out announcements, information, and to get to talk to one another about what we have going on.  Our Weekly What's up will be recorded if you cannot make it and contains all of the information that these newsletters also send out. :)  
I encourage you to join us every Monday from 12:30pm-1:00pm to see what's up for the week and to get to know one another.

I hope the first week was a great one!  I have enjoyed getting to know some of you as we worked together through some of the silly struggles of the first week back in school.

You will see a set of announcements attached below, check out some of the events that are happening here at GCA and see how YOU can get involved :)

What to do this week:
Classes should have all of their pre-tests taken at this point and you should have access to your Instructional Cycle 1 work.  If you are not seeing work, ask yourself if you took your pretest and maybe shoot your teacher an email to see if they have entered your score or can help you locate the test :)

I recommend making a calendar or printing your class schedules on what assignments are due each week and each cycle.  This helps you remember when things are coming do to stay on track. 

LCs make sure you are starting to log hours and are taking attendance.  You will get an email from me if i see a student has not logged in to their classes OR if a parent has not taken attendance in the last 3 days.   Avoid getting this email, lol.


Have a great week and remember to attend your live CC sessions as they are required on your schedule.  Optional classes are great too for extra practice and one on one time with your teacher and peers.

I hope you all had a successful Mastery Week and did awesome on your IAs.  As Cycle 1 ends and we begin Cycle 2, it is important to stay organized to complete your tasks on time.  

While IAs cannot be completed late, all other OHS work may be accepted for late credit, as determined by the teacher. Please reach out to your teachers if you wish to bring up your cycle 1 non-ia items. Remember, you don't want to fall behind in Cycle 2, so stay on track with your OHS lessons, TODs, and class work.

MAP testing was last week for 9th and 10th graders.  If you missed any of the MAP tests, you will receive communication with a GCA admin in the next week to make these tests up.  Please do your best to complete these.

It is officially IA week.  You should see a lighter work load in all of your classes this week in order to focus on taking and excelling in your IAs.  Please be sure to take these tests by Monday February 19th.  Any missing IAs will receive a permanent 0 in the grade book.

Please be mindful of your live schedules the next two weeks.  Most of your schedules will feel light as teachers are administering the State Milestones.  Use this time to your advantage to get caught up, stay on track, or try to work ahead.  

EOC for high school tests begin April 30.  Please log in to testing nirvana to view your testing schedule.  

I am testing both weeks and serving as a site coordinator, so you will have access to me via email, but please be patient in my response time.

With EOC testing ending, please be aware that MAP testing is occurring this week 05/07-05/11.  Students required to take MAP tests will be given a new code each morning to complete the MAP test.  Please do not delay in taking these.  

Use these lighter weeks to complete any missing work in the OLS  as we prepare to close out the school year!  We are almost done, let's wrap up with a strong finish and great grades!
