         <description><![CDATA[<div>39.2 Meters<br>We did the stick method where a person their arm cordinates the meter stick and then takes the measure of the tree by walking backwards.  Held the stick up at 90 to an outstreched arm. Walked backwards. The distance between the feet and the tree is roughly the height of the tree.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Leaves vs. Needles</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pros of leaves:&nbsp;<br>Leaves/broad leaves are fast growing and does not take much energy for the tree to grow. &nbsp;<br>Leaves are wider and bigger than needles so it is easier to photosynthesis as there is more surface area for the tree to get energy.<br><br>Cons of leaves:&nbsp;<br>They lose water faster than needles. Needles have wax coatings which helps to preserve water in the tree from respiratation.&nbsp;<br>Needles are much more adapted to the cold therefore they can survive on the tree during the winter.<br>Another con of having leaves over needles is that the photosynthesis period for needles is year round. Meaning that during winter, trees with needles can perform photosynthesis for more energy, while trees with leaves have to do more work in spring summer and early fall.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
