The use of Baroque bows and instrument enables the musician to play more similar to the 18th Century musicians. They are able to understand why are certain articulation and ornaments written as the effect made by Modern instruments are totally different. The use of Baroque instrument also meant that the timbre of the ensemble will be different from that of a modern ensemble, with a lower base volume and wider dynamic range. This will affect the expression performed by the ensemble. I believe all the factors above as a whole will make this performance much more authentic.

Consulting the autograph manuscripts & treatises allows the ensemble to see for themselves the most original writings of the work - good reference for articulations, dynamics and phrase marks.

Also, by refraining any references to contemporary performances and modern editions will ensure that they are not influenced by the many versions of a work. Instead, they are put in a position to only bring out the most original intentions of a composer.

In visiting the Handel museum and picking up the historical circumstance which Handel lived in, the ensemble would be able to set themselves in the context of the situation at that time, and better understand why and how Handel composed the work they way he did. This gives them a clearer understanding of how the musical styles back in the Baroque era affected the compositional style of Handel, and should give them a better idea of how the performance should be carried out.

Consulting previous performances of the work may be effective in providing ideas and suggestions on how the work should be performed.

However, they would have to carefully choose recordings which are as imitative of a performance in the Baroque era as possible. A period performance in this case, may be more of an accurate representation as compared to a historical performance.
