When using an informal outline, students use note-taking skills like indentation, numbering, bullets, or Roman numerals. This allows great organization of the notes that they take. Most people assume that this is done paper-pencil, but technology can enhance this skill.

Academic Notebooks:

When using an academic notebook, students produce somewhat of an academic journal. They gather notes while researching, write down any questions that they may have, and self-reflect throughout the school year.

Dramatic Enactments:

This strategy is a lot different that the first two. This is a hands-on strategy where students will actually act the part. They do this with different topics.

Students can use paper-pencil for note-taking, but they can also use audio-recording software, speech-to-text apps, and Dragon Dictation. These are just a few apps that students could use. These would be quicker than hand-written notes. To publish work, students could use Google Drive and Evernote. These would be great options and give students keyboarding skills that they definitely need for their future careers.

Academic Notebooks:

Instead of keeping an actual notebook/journal, students could use online journals such as Digital notebooks. They would also be able to pull up their Digital notebook on any device making it accessible almost anywhere!

Dramatic Enactments:

Students are able to edit scenes/videos and then upload their videos to their digital portfolio. They can use all kinds of editing apps to improve their videos.

For using any of these strategies, it's important to remember to be familiar with them first before introducing them to your class. If your are proficient, they will pay close attention and learn quickly.

It's also a great idea to have examples completed ahead of time, so that students know the expectation of the lesson/project.
