Something I noticed about the teachers is that rather than tell the students what's right or wrong, they guide the students to their own conclusions by asking them where they get their information and how the information applies to what they're looking for. This also applies to the growth mindset we've been studying because the teacher is rewarding their effort.

I liked the way Ms. Brewer would ask open ended questions to students to see what their thought process is like. I never thought about asking those types of questions to students, but I like the way that it allows their answers to always correct. I also noticed that she would actually listen to the students and ask them more questions to further their answers and the conversation as well.

Something that I noticed about Mrs. Brewer's teaching is that she always asked her students questions that would help them find the answers on their own instead of just handing it to them, and after they do find the answer they're looking for she tells them that she's proud of them for finding them on their own. This allows for the students to find ways to problem solve and search for things, and also allows them to use their minds to come up with solutions to problems. This is a great example of helping to develop a growth mindset because she is praising their process and helping them grow.

I really admired how she did a good job encouraging the growth mindset. She asked students questions to further their thinking while never telling them if it was right or wrong. I noticed every student was able to create their own thinking because she was sure to talk to each student at the table instead of addressing the table as a whole and letting one student take control. The students were able to problem solve and look for specific details on their own.

The thing that stuck out to me the most while watching the video was how little she was actually helping them find the answers. She would always ask questions about their learning, and she would have them go further in depth without her having to push. The way she spoke to the kids gave them room to share their ideas, and her prompting got the kids to cite evidence for the claims they made.

My favorite part was that she used questions as a way of helping them find an answer rather than giving it to them directly. This gave them insight on what to do and where to find the information but didn't provide them an answer without a path of getting there first. She then proceeded to praise them for finding the answer rather than the answer being correct.

Instead of just giving them the answers she would ask more questions so the students would have to go back in the book and find evidence for their answer. What also stuck out to me was how engaged the students were in the video. They were excited to learn and answer the questions the teacher was asking them.

One of my favorite thing that she did in the video was that she made the students feel like they were teaching her something. She would ask them questions where they had to work together to find the answers, and when someone would ask her a question she would see if another student knew the answer or she would help them find where the answer to their question is in their books.

During the video I liked when the teacher would make the students dive deeper into their thinking and making them go back to look for evidence. The teacher always made open ended questions. When the students answered a question the teacher was engaged with the student and wasn't making them feel like their answer to the question was right or wrong. The teacher was acting like she was apart of their "table group" wanting to learn

the teacher would guide the students through the reading and ask them questions that would go more into depth of what they had said. She included all students to make them feel comfortable and when asking questions there really was no right or wrong answer. Everything about her teaching really shows you how to portray a growth mindset in students.

I liked how the teacher kind of inserted herself with the students and their learning, by saying something like, "if I hadn't read that..." and "can you help us find it..." She's painting the picture of learning with the students. I noticed that she was very attentive when a student was talking by making eye contact, nodding, and clearly displaying facial expressions based on what the student was saying. She made it very clear to the student that she was engaged and listening, which probably encourages them to continue to share their thoughts. I liked her emphasis on having the students find their answers in the text and having them cite evidence and discover it for themselves and teach that important skill of using the text to cite your answers.

Jeffrey LaubscherWhat I noticed from the video that the teachers were very engaging with the students. The teacher in the video wanted the students to learn the information for themselves and discover what they found interesting and what they thought was important and valued in that certain lesson. The teacher was there to help the students expand their knowledge not just tell them everything and hope that they understand what she is saying.
