         <description><![CDATA[<div>The affected protein in the Shar Pei dog is HAS2 (hyaluronan synthase 2). HAS2 is an enzyme that sits in the membrane of skin cells. It builds a large molecule called hyaluronan (HA) and releases it outside the cell.<br> <br>HA surrounds skin cells to provide structural support. It is also a signaling molecule. HA tells skin cells to divide, and it guides moving cells to their proper place during development and wound healing.</div>]]></description>
