The Purpose statement is what you want to achieve in the speech and what you are arguing. They are used to format/guide your whole structure of a speech (almost like a thesis). The general purpose statements are to inform, persuade, and entertain, while the specific purpose statement (describes precisely the speech's about) is enclosed around those goals.

Usually, speakers choose a broad topic that is inspired by things happening around them; if they're going to talk about multiple topics, topics should be relevant to one another. It may be helpful to consider these questions:

What important events are occurring locally, nationally and internationally?
What do I care about most?
Is there someone or something I can advocate for?
What makes me angry/happy?
What beliefs/attitudes do I want to share?
Is there some information the audience needs to know?

In a whole writing a speech you should stick with the subject at hand, with facts, figures and always keep your audience engaged

To present the main purpose of your presentation is to clearly state the focal point. The focal point lists why you are presenting in the first place. It’s filtering out the irrelevant information and considering how the audience will receive the information you are giving to them. From there, you need to consider how your speech should be presented. This includes being persuasive, informative, emotional, inspiring etc.
