Pedrarias sent Francisco Hernandez from Cordoba to Nicaragua to conquer the region. Cordova founded Grenada near Nicaragua. He also founded Leon near Lake Managua and tried to rule Nicaragua himself. Pedrarias executed Cordoba and appointed himself governor of Nicaragua.
