  • "1 in 5 women and girls between the ages of 15 and 49 report experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner within a 12-month period" (U.N, n.d.). This shows that women are seen as being a vulnerable population and being targeted for violence.

  • Nurses play a part as being an advocate for patients and helping patients feel empowered in their own healthcare choices. Nurses also should educate their patients on topics such as reproductive rights. 
  • Nurses can help with gender discrimination by standing up when it is seen and understanding their own biases.
