         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Singapore uses a parliamentary system in which parliament chooses the leader. The current leader, Lee Hsein Loong was part of parliament and later got appointed to prime minister by parliament. Overall this system is working for them.<br></strong><br></div><div>Below Prime minister Loong is giving a speech to the parliament.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Singapore also has a few social problems such as illegal immigrants and freedom of speech. Others are struggling to live with the low wages. Singapore also has strange laws outlawing selling gum, spitting and smoking in public, Singing in public, feeding pigeons, and connecting to a neighbors WiFi. Although these laws are in effect i’m not sure how the police would enforce them.<br></strong><br></div><div>Underneath people are protesting for freedom of speech against the parliament.</div>]]></description>

Eunos Abdullah forced the British to give Singapore a piece of land and, Stamford Raffles signed a treaty allowing Singapore to be built. Also in the battle of Singapore Japan claimed Singapore and another historical leader, Yamashita was tried for war crimes.<br></strong><br></div><div>The British surrendering to Singapore (at the time Japan) in the Battle of Singapore.</div>]]></description>

Then in 1965 they gained independence and became their own country, They celebrate that day as heir independence day.
