English Reflection

The Spanish language has lots of different grammar rules. The words have lots of accents, which words in English do not have except for apostrophes. I thought that Costa Rican culture was interesting because I like to imagine myself in someone else's shoes. I thought it was fun to pretend that I did live in Costa Rica, to imagine that I woke up there every day. I think the Costa Rican culture is very different than mine, but also similar, which intrigues me. I would love to study there someday in college. When I continue to study I want to learn more basic conversation skills, questions like "How do I get here?" or "Where do you want to go to school?" -advanced types of everyday use questions. I thought the online course was fine. The courseload I thought was perfect- I was never struggling to turn in assignments once I learned how to do them. The beginning was a little bit shaky because it was hard to work on a whole new platform, but I figured it out. I think that the communication with my teacher was great and she was very helpful. Some of the work I wish I understood better, because I don't think I can speak Spanish as well as I would be able to if I had an in-person teacher. The live classes could be improved, but that is the only big thing I can think of. You aren't going to get the same type of education, but you do learn a lot!! Taking notes helped me a lot. I used my notebook to go over words and practice them for speaking. Maybe I can start using Duolingo to learn more Spanish and in the future I will make even more notes for each unit- which can help you a ton of difficult assignments. My instructor helped make sure I knew what was going on and was always kind about it. My instructor was super good at communicating with all of us and trying her best for us to know the material. One thing that would have been helpful could be a synopsis of each unit. In the end, I liked this course! I am happy I know more Spanish, probably more than I learned in the first semester, and I really liked my instructor.
