For example they sang the popular song, Un Poco Loco, from the movie Coco. Also many teachers are of Hispanic backgrounds and can communicate with parents who only speak Spanish.


Teachers also make sure they have books from Hispanic authors or other authors from students background.

The teachers work very closely to find the appropriate support for their students and they work very closely with special education teachers to make sure that students are receiving the same education in both classes. rprice1196 https://padlet.com/rprice1196/x0wxj5deu7fk/wish/314928977 In the first-grade class I was student teaching in we placed a student into special education a couple of weeks ago.  Last week the special education teacher came to the general education class after the student had mainstreamed to inform us the he had received an A on his spelling test.  She wanted to make sure that my cooperating teacher knew this and to give him a moment to feel special.  The principle is very supporting of all the teachers and tries his best to help the all the teachers any way he can.  He does not walk into a classroom and act like he is the king of the school and that teachers need to follow his directions.  He is more interested in helping students then in controlling the teachers and classrooms.

Most of the teachers use different behavior methods in their classroom and I would like to see the school work together and come up with one or two behavioral methods for all the classes. Students change classes for 95% time and ELD and when they enter a different teachers classroom they don’t know that teachers rules. Because of the district curriculum and the fact that so many of the students are ELLs and need a tremendous amount of scaffolding the teachers use direct instruction and whole group for the most part in the lower grades. I feel like the teachers are pressured to make sure they get the students ready to test and are not given time to have students work with their peers. As a sub I have seen this in many school districts and I know from talking with teachers that it is because of standardized testing.
