This book did make sense. I'm wondering if Little Man ever talked without a stutter (page 220 and 223). I am also wondering why the mom didn't say words right and if it is something to do with Little Man's stutter (page 218). Finally, did Little Man find out who his dad was (page 90).

I have trouble remembering sounds so sometimes I don't want to talk outloud. My text to world is that many people have word problems and they overcome them.

The story takes place in Memphis, Tennessee. It takes place a long time when there was segregation. The main character is Vince, but he is called Little Man by his nanny, Mam. Little man has a bad stutter and he has to take over his friends paper route for a month. He is worried about collecting money because he has to talk. Then he meets a nice man named Mr. Spiro who helps him. Little man gives his knife to a homeless guy named Ara T. for sharpening. Ara T. doesn't give it back so Mam goes after him. Then there is a fight. Ara T. gets hurt and they never see him again (page 1 through 221).

The passeges that create the best picture in my mind are all the passeges that have Vince going into the houses and collecting money. Like when he goes into Mrs. Worthington's house and he says he needs the money and she fell asleep. I could picture a old ladys room with old leather furniture and a lot of wood (page ). I also picture the bar fight where Little man was watching Ara T strangle Mam in a old, dirty bar (page 188, 189).

The authors style of writing was weird. When people were talking he didn't put quotation marks. It was kind of confusing to figure out if someone is talking. He didn't use commas because commas are used for pauses and he already paused while he spoke.
