The male gaze is apparent within 'Vanity' a woman painted naked for visual enjoyment of the male 'ideal spectator' , however a mirror is placed in her hand condemning her as narcissistic.

• The programme contains several definitions of the differences between the nude and being naked, what are they? 
Kenneth Clark believes that being  naked is without clothes, however nudism is art. But John Berger's claims that to be naked to be ones self, but nudes is seen as naked but not recognised as more than an object. 

• What is voyeurism? 
Voyeurism is the practice of gaining sexual pleasure from watching others when they are naked or engaged in sexual activity.

• What is narcissism?

Publicity is about the future buyer, presenting an image in which they are made glamorous by the product or opportunity they are trying to sell allowing them to be perceived as if from a higher social status. 

• What is glamour?
Glamour is the lifestyle in which you live, the things you own, and the things you wear, an indescribable quality that makes you exciting and attractive .

• Why might examples of Fine Art appear in advertising?
 Fine art appears in advertising to create a sense of cultural authority and luxury commonly depicted in oil paintings, using similar symbols such as female sexuality 

• What are the three dream Berger identifies? What does each mean?
· The dream of later tonight is the idea of being the life of the party, enjoying a luxurious and hedonistic lifestyle. A common example of this is the idea of just using this one product such as lynx will get you instant female attention, drawing on the insecurity of primarily men. 
· The skin dream is the idea of presenting our self as a smooth plain being, the fetishization of youthfulness, the perfect representation of yourself. A contemporary example of this skin care advertising, the glorification and of perfect untarnished skin creating a makeup-less makeup look.
· The dream of a far away place, with brochures and and exotic objects giving us a sense of distances. A Modern example of this is the advertising of everyday mundane products as new exiting was to discover new places such as car adverts, displaying an idyllic lifestyle possible only with this new product.
 A new dream emerging within society is the charitable dream, the idea of just being able to just throw money at issues in order to solve them, and being pushed to donate to large charities to seem like a good person. when in reality a lot of the time people are donating to help pay for advertising costs.

It allowed the spectator owner to celebrate themselves as the protagonist reinforcing and validating the ego and self confidence you are what you have, oil paintings showed what the owner was enjoying what they have consolidating his own value enhancing his own view of himself,
