I pondered for a long time whether I should help them, or if they needed help, and by the time I was going to, they had gotten to where they needed to be. Now that my career in collegiate basketball has ended. I have inquired with my old high school coach if they have a coaching position open. I wish to continue the culture and ensuring a healthy environment in my high school team especially with a new head coach. Today, I am part of the community learning hub operating under Angat Pinas. Every Saturday, we go to the Aguinaldo/Capitol area in Diliman to teach kids supplementary lessons. I don't think I will ever stop teaching as long as there are less privileged kids who still do not know how to read and count when they are at their age that they need to. Their smiles when they were able to read a whole paragraph or solve an equation will always motivate me. I've realized that this is a very unhelpful attitude to have not only for myself, but for others as well. My main priority for the time being is my baby sister because she's the youngest in our family and therefore more vulnerable in the face of violence both physical and verbal. I remember it being one of my best experiences in high school because I got really attached to the family I was assigned to. I learned so much about their lives and it really warmed my heart how they found joy in the smallest things -- things in my life that I would be rarely be thankful to God for. That family taught me and made me fully believe in the saying that money can't buy happiness. Although, it was really a pain that the pandemic happened and I wasn't able to visit them again.
