EPIC's read to me section had a lot of great features

- being able to change the reading speed

-zoom the page

- highlight words as they're read

One thing I noticed was the read to me home section didn't have very many advanced books, but the audiobooks section had some bigger books.

From the search bar, there are a range of topics and genres, and you can specify reading level and age, but the number of books under read to me are still limited

The text didn't really seem grade-level specific but it was written with different ages in mind.

The “show thinking” while it was generating was interesting to read and see why it felt making certain changes would be helpful for that grade.

The document translation was really quick and easy to use. I've used this feature before to translate handouts for multilingual students, which is super helpful. I don't think it's always the most accurate, but it does pretty good direct translations. I tried a couple of different languages for this (my screenshot is of Czech)

The translate app and voice translation worked quickly and picked up what I was saying pretty well. It worked better with shorter and more direct statements/questions.

Hovering over text to get immediate translation was super cool, however, it doesn't always pick up the full text or it translates the wrong things in the frame.

standard:

RF.1.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).

I think this tool can create some really good brainstorming prompts. I liked that there was a range of tactical and academic activties for students to use. The options focused on developing different skills by having students identify different features of that skill. I also liked that these could be easily turned into partner or individual tasks. I noticed a lot of the ideas might be hard to make accessible for students with movement or visual impairments.

I didn’t specify what age range, but most of it is geared towards younger students. In this case, that worked fine, but it might be helpful to add the age/grade.

At the end, it offered the best way to sequence lessons and implement the resources, which I thought was interesting
