Connections between the book and a Tv show

This book reminds me of a serie that I’ve watched recently: Brooklyn 99. It pretty much talks about crimes happening in New York. Basically, it’s about a group of cops solving hard mysteries. I think that ‘’Monster’’ and ‘’Brooklyn 99’’ are similar since they both talk about cases (murder, robbery, kidnapping, etc..). In one of the episodes, it’s about how a guy murdered another guy and tries to get away with murder. There isn’t a perspective of a criminal and it’s more like a police retreat kind of episode. Monster is talking about prison life and the of the prisoners but Brooklyn 99 is a combination of both worlds (prison and cop life). A lot of interrogations happen in the movie. They happen in a court room like in the book.

Steve Harmon, a 16 year old black boy, is in trial for felony murder. He doesn’t feel like himself and so, out of loneliness he decides to make a movie. A movie about himself even though he doesn’t feel like that’s him. Steve decides to call it ‘’Monster’’ because that’s how the lady prosecutor called him. A lot of trials in court make place and a lot of witnesses confess. Sometimes Steve feels like crying. It’s not good to show any kind of emotion in a place like this. You do anything and if it disturbs someone, you may get beaten up. All of the lawyers and guards don’t believe in Steve. Without hearing his side of the story, they already assume he was guilty. During the first trial, Zinzi is one of the suspects and he is currently in jail. O’brien and Briggs think that he would say almost anything to get out of jail. One of the following trials, Osvaldo Cruz is on the stand and being questioned. He is 14 years old, got in a huge fight with his girlfriend because she found out he got another gurl pregnant. Cruz also is in a gang called ‘‘Diablos’’. To get in, he had to fight a group member and cut a strangers face. He is suspicious because he claims to be ‘’scared’ of Bobo Evans but not terrified a bit of the other things he did.
