Countries have built economic partnerships to facilitate these movements over many centuries. But the term gained popularity after the Cold War in the early 1990s, as these cooperative arrangements shaped modern everyday life.
Discussion of the topic

Summary of the importance of sustainability :-
The basic understanding of this topic is that everything we do , including engineering , revolves around 3 important thing , Enviromental , Social and Economic . If we focused on one certain thing while ignoring the other two , it will lead to many problems and creates unwanted difficulties . But , by focusing all these 3 key aspect mentioned , we can achieve sustainability , which can improve efficiency without making any casualties .

What Is Sustainability?

It seems like every other day we hear someone talk about sustainability. Sustainability can be broadly defined as “meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” When it comes to describing sustainability in our world, we need to be concerned about three main areas of influence.

There are three interconnected spheres of sustainability that describe the relationships between the environmental, economic, and social aspects of our world. These spheres are a related set of concepts that, when taken together, can form a solid ground from which major decisions and actions can be made. Examples of such decisions could include land use planning, surface water management, building design and construction, and even law making.

When the concepts contained in the three spheres of sustainability are applied to real world situations, everybody wins. Natural resources are preserved, the environment is protected, the economy isn't harmed, and the quality of life for our people is improved or maintained.

For economy, even garbage that is considered useless can actually be recycled. Recycling is a key component in modern waste reduction and it can also preserve the environment by replacing unused plastic with something more useful in the future while ensuring the country's economy "sits as low, stands as high" with other modern countries.

Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world's economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information.

Greenhouse gases have prevented heat from leaving the earth and cause heat to be trapped. A lot of trapped heat has caused the ice at the poles to melt. The melting ice has caused and increase in sea level. As result, changes in temperature which will significantly result in alterations in climate patterns around the world.

Sustainability development in engineering

The word "environment" is synonymous with surroundings. However, when people think of "The environment" they think of the natural environment. They envision trees, animals, and the landscape. While the environment and ecology are not synonymous they do often go hand in hand. When you study the environment in your classroom you may also study ecosystems and ecology. You can focus your lesson plans on the topic of saving the environment, conservation, animal habitats, the food chain, and geography. The natural environment encompasses all living and non-living things occurring naturally on Earth. It is the environment that encompasses the interaction of all living species. Climate, weather, and natural resources that affect human survival and economic activity.

LESSON FROM LECTURE ENVIROMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY:

What i have learnt from the lecture today is we need to think ahead when doing something and this is more important as engineer to design or making things that dont cause harm to enviroment.Soil contamination is the No. 1 problem caused by improper waste removal and disposal. Some wastes that end up in landfills excrete hazardous chemicals that leak into the soil. Take the case of plastic bottles. When they eventually break down, they release DEHA, a carcinogen that affects our reproduction systems, causes liver dysfunction, and weight loss. Soil contamination does not only affect plant growth, it is also unhealthy to humans and animals feeding on those plants.

It is therefore important that every household takes recycling to heart. Plastics, metals, paper, and electronic wastes can be recycled at your local recycling centres. If everyone takes time to segregate and sort their recyclable wastes and bring them to recycling centres, the bulk of waste that will be removed from the landfills.

Althought there are lots of ways to make the world better, human choose the most easiest way to finish and accomplish their job. Guess what, this just make the world worst. Even the technology and the facilities are keep improving, but the surrounding just getting worst. If we really want a "win-win" situation, it is vital to know about the correct ways to improve our life, but not ruined it.

Environment and Sustainability
In order to sustain the beauty and natural function of the environment, humankind must first take drastic steps toward environmental sustainability and avoid actions that harm or deplete it

•Issues of risk in engineering such as how risk should be defined and how much risk is acceptable.

Sustainability
Sustainable practices support ecological, human, and economic health and vitality. Sustainability presumes that resources are finite, and should be used conservatively and wisely with a view to long-term priorities and consequences of the ways in which resources are used. In simplest terms, sustainability is about our children and our grandchildren, and the world we will leave them.
-Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs

• By developing, processing and transporting natural resources in closed-loop systems, we can reduce waste and increase the efficient use of resources.
• Harvesting renewable resources such as water, fish and trees within the limits allowed by nature will ensure a continuing supply of resources for humans and natural ecosystems. Minimizing our use of non-renewable resources, such as petroleum and scarce minerals, and replacing them with environmentally friendly substitutes will also help extend the supply of natural resources.
• Processing natural resources efficiently and with little or no waste helps to preserve the earth’s finite natural resources. We can further preserve resources by designing products and packaging for reuse and recycling, and we can protect resources through industrial processes and facilities that have minimal adverse environmental impacts throughout their full life-cycles

Globalization
The increasing trend towards internationally integrated markets and global interconnectedness, making national boundaries less important in terms of political, cultural, technological, financial, environmental, and national security issues.
-Based on national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in UN, the government should provide affordable and modern access to take care of our sustainable in this country by put net to filter the carbon dioxide for factory industry.

Effects of Globalization
-changing the way we live our lives on a personal basis
-changing the institutions which we collectively use to give form and predictability to our economic, social and political relationships

Challenges of Globalization
defining global engineering ethics,
developing procedures for the international licensing of engineers, and
developing international codes and standards of practice.
international accreditation and recognition of engineering programs.

Social Enterprise
A social enterprise approach is only a means to an end: the profit-making strategies are not in place for profit maximization but are in place as an essential component to bring about social or environmental change in a meaningful and long term way.

We Can Design Buildings That Save Energy and Money

-Designing energy efficient building

-Green architecture, based on energy efficient approach

-Building certification, Green Building Index, LEEDS, BREEAM, etc.

-Natural lights, natural ventilation, orientation, materials selection.

What is Environmental Sustainability?
Sustainable development is the practice of developing land and construction projects in a manner that reduces their impact which will harm on the environment by allowing them to create energy efficient models of self-sufficiency. This can take the form of installing solar panels or wind generators on factory sites, using geothermal heating techniques or even participating in cap and trade agreements. The biggest criticism of sustainable development is that it does not do enough to conserve the environment in the present and is based on the belief that the harm done in one area of the world can be counter balanced by creating environmental protections in the other.

Globalisation is the process by which the world is becoming increasingly interconnected as a result of massively increased trade and cultural exchange.

It is the challenge of meeting human needs for natural resources, industrial products, energy, food, transportation, shelter, and effective waste management while conserving / save and protecting environmental quality and the natural resource base essential for future development.”

Behind the progress and development that we create need to have conditions that can avoid the environment.there we will get benefits for our life in the world so that everyone feels peace in their lives.

Globalization

Among people, companies, and governments around the world is the process of globalization, or globalisation (Commonwealth English; see spelling differences). Due to advancements in transportation and communication technology, globalization has accelerated since the 18th century. Globalization has led to an increase in international trade and the exchange of ideas, beliefs, and cultures. As a process of economic interaction and integration, globalization also involves social and cultural dimensions. However, disputes and diplomacy are also large parts of the history of globalization, and of modern globalization.

A global economy involves goods, services, data, technology, and capital resources. As global markets expand, the exchange of goods and funds becomes more liberalized. In addition to the removal of trade barriers, progress in transportation, such as steam locomotives, steamships, jet engines, and container ships, and advances in telecommunication infrastructure, such as telegraphs, the Internet, and mobile phones, have also significantly influenced globalization.
</sup>

They keep our bread and other food fresh. They even let us carry goldfish home from the pet store.
When they are recycled plastic bags and wraps can made into plastic lumber that is used to make park benches, backyard decks and fences – even playground equipment.

Sustainable engineering is the process of designing or operating systems such that they use energy and resources sustainably, in other words, at a rate that does not compromise the natural environment, or the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

We must use the renewables sources and prevent used of resources that produced pollution
Because of the pollution environment destroyed and human health affected for example the nuclear plant produce a huge amount of energy but it also produced waste that very hard to handle.

Meanwhile, globalization is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world’s economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information. Countries have built economic partnerships to facilitate these movements over many centuries. But the term gained popularity after the Cold War in the early 1990s, as these cooperative arrangements shaped modern everyday life. This guide uses the term more narrowly to refer to international trade and some of the investment flows among advanced economies, mostly focusing on the United States.

Thus, It can be concluded that sustainbility developement is a way to ennsure the benefits of present human being and the future generation .

Sustainable energy

Energy is sustainable if it "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". Most definitions of sustainable energy include considerations of environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions and social and economic aspects such as energy poverty. Renewable energy sources such as wind, hydroelectric power, solar, and geothermal energy are generally far more sustainable than fossil fuel sources. However, some renewable energy projects, such as the clearing of forests to produce biofuels, can cause severe environmental damage. The role of non-renewable energy sources in sustainable energy has been controversial.

Engineers must have a sense of responsibility to make sure that they make sustainable development when needing to create a solution to a problem. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In other words, make a solution that does not endanger the future only for the sake of the present. For example, ever since the development of vehicles the quality of out air are decreasing more and more. Yes, it has undoubtedly benefited the people so much but if we look into it more, we can see that we exchanged the convenience of transportation for our air quality. If we do not create a way to overcome this problem quickly, we be sure that perhaps our air quality in the far future will be worse, perhaps even unbreathable.

Engineering is not an easy task. To create and develop a solution, resources must be used. These resources can include trees, oil such as petroleum and diesel, water, minerals and much more. Although we can say that many of these resources haven't run out or in other words it means that we do have a huge quantity of resources at disposal but it is by no means infinite. At one point, these resources will run out and by then we will no longer have any resources to be used. That is why sustainable development is important because it is a challenge of meeting human needs while at the same time conserve and save the resources for future development.

a. The concept of 3Rs (recycle, reduce and reuse) should be applied and promoted so that we can prevent the highly excessive use of resources that are non-renewable. For example, new metal products can be made from scrap metal.

b. Bulbs and tube lights that are energy efficient should be used to save energy.

c. The use of wood and paper products should be reduced and the use of e-paper and e-book should be encouraged.

d. The use of fossil fuels can be reduced by using public transport, walking, cycling or car-pooling.

e. Instead of using plastic bags, cloth bags can be used.

f. Solar panels and rechargeable batteries can be used as alternative sources of energy.

g. Compost bins can be set up to produce manure instead of using fertilisers.

h. Planting of trees should be encouraged so that air pollution effects can be reduced because trees will replenish the air quality in the atmosphere and save environment
