What really sparked the upbringing of world war 1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Gavrilo Princip was the person who assassinated Archduke to ultimately cause war between austria hungry and serbia.

This affected the world because not only austria hungry and serbia will be in war and this one incident will effect the whole outcome of world war 1. This chain of effects between each country would continue for 4 years.

the battle of Somme was a battle that lasted 4 and a half months between France and Britain troops against Germany troops located at the Somme River in northern France. It was a very tuff battle injuring and killing a large amount of soldiers on both sides.
