Whether it is as simple as weed and alcohol or hard drugs like acid and cocaine, today's youth has a problem. People are able to push past the negative side effects and governmental control to get a trip or buzz. Hard drugs like LSD have been scientifically proven to negatively impact your brain and can even help aid the development of schizophrenia, alcohol kills liver cells and addiction kills. A lot of young kids today are addicted to substances and a major percentage of suicides that end in death are due to od on drugs. Addiction is also a major problem a lot of adults have become homeless due to addiction. As stated in my source "More than 85% of the parents claimed that the drug problems of their child to a great or very great extent had had a negative impact on their lives as a whole." Addiction not only has an impact on the person but the whole family it is detrimental and costly to be the guardian of an addict. The government can't do anything to help, and most halfway houses and psychiatric and addiction centers are unfunded, which isn't helping today's addiction growth.  Not only do drugs have negative biological and psychological effects they are also aiding the government to promote discrimination known as the war on drugs. The government has used street drugs to discriminate against Hispanic and African Americans for about a hundred years and still continues to be a major problem today. Many of today's jails are also overpopulated due to small street drug crimes which are starting to overcrowd causing a lot of other issues. Overall drugs cause many problems that aren't seen right away there are many background impacts of these things.

I have also researched addiction and how it hurts families and the person using themselves. For further research I will continue to research more into the impact drugs have on the body rather than just political research. I will also find out new information on the war on drugs and include more of that in my research. I also want to focus more on jails and how overpopulation is unhealthy regarding the inmates.  I also want to look into addiction more and the biological reasoning behind it and why it is this hard to overcome.
