There can be a sort of electricity in the air, the sense that things are fluid, changeable, that anything can happen. The best storytellers have a kind of magic that leaves you holding your breath, waiting for you're-not-quite-sure-what. You also get a sense of the importance of the oral tradition, that you're a part of a longstanding history.
