Creon is the brother of Iokaste, son of Menoikeus, and uncle of Antigone, Polyneikes, Ismene, and Eteokles. He becomes king after the two sons of Odipus dies and banishes Antigone to a vault in the wilderness for going against his orders. He is shown to have a obligation to the law not to morals by punishing Antigone for burying her brother.

He tries to rule Thebes even though he was never trained nor meant to become king. He tries to establish the fact that he will put his kingdom before his loved ones by showing he is willing to murder his cousin for disobedience. He forces the law on the people and tries to establish a kingdom in which the people obey him.

Creon is shown to be a character that everyone is able to relate to personally but is put into a very extreme example. He shows everyone how the law is not always right and that by obeying it and not obeying moral laws can result in more pain. He shows how what we think is not always right and we should put our ego aside to listen to what other people have to say and their beliefs.
