The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma, with internal convective motion that generates a magnetic field via a dynamo process. It is by far the most important source of energy for life on Earth. One million Earths can fit inside the sun. However the sun is considered a medium sized star. Betelgeuse is in the Orion constellation and it is 400 times larger! The sun is a giant ball of Hydrogen gas made heat through nuclear fusion. Unlike nuclear fission (atoms split apart and create radiation), nuclear fusion makes atoms ran into each other. This creates cleaner and hotter reactions which makes the sun burn bright. Our sun is made up of 92.1% of Hydrogen, 7.8% Helium and 0.1% other.

Mercury is the smallest and innermost planet in the Solar System. Its orbit around the Sun takes only 87.97 days, the shortest of all the planets in the Solar System. It is named after the Roman deity Mercury, the messenger of the gods. Since Mercury's axis does not tilt, the equator is burning hot. Temperatures on Mercury are extreme and H20 fills craters in the shadowed poll. Mercury has an odd sunrise and sunset. Depending on where you are, you would see the sun rise and set in a different way. Mercury terrain is very rocky. Old volcanoes, craters and high ragged walls can be found on Mercury.

Venus is the second planet from the Sun. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. As the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after the Moon, Venus can cast shadows and, rarely, is visible to the naked eye in broad daylight. Also, Venus's chemical composition is similar to Earth. However the atmosphere of Venus is filled with Methane and Carbon Dioxide. Venus's atmosphere is extremely dense and it has winds that reach up to 200 MPH. The surface temperature is hot enough to melt lead and if anyone was one Venus, they would be crushed!

Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbor life. Earth spins on it's axis and travels through space at 66, 700 MPH. One of Earth's unique elements is H2O. H2O allows life to flourish and an atmosphere of Oxygen too. Earth has the most diverse terrain in the Solar System. There are icecaps at the poles and land masses in the center. Oceans cover 71% of the planet. Earths often receives the name "Blue Planet" because of the oceans and Nitrogen rich atmosphere. Earth's axis allows the seasons to take place. Earth also has the water cycle. The water cycle is a way a way for water to move around the Earth. Earth also has a very thick atmosphere. Many animals call Earth home. Earth's life is very diverse. Earth also has the moon which glows at night. The moon reflects the sun's light making it glow. The moon is the closest space object. Earth is a very unique planet because of biodiversity.
