When they moved to England, they "picked up" a drummer and a bass player. They also got themselves a manager, Roger Stigwood, who would help guide them to success. Stigwood had been "associated" with The Beatles before. With Stigwood's "guidance", they were able to release lots of hits including "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "Holiday", and "Massachusetts". All were released in 1967. Then they came out with hits such as "Words", and "I've Got Get a Message to You". These were released in 1968. Then, in 1969, they came out with "I Started a Joke".

The Bee Gees went through a rough period where they fought with each other. With hits including "Lonely Days" in 1970, and "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" in 1971, they also had quite a few songs that were very unsuccessful. Stigwood hired a new producer, and then they moved to Miami from England. While in Miami, they picked up a "Funk-Falsetto" sound to them. This helped them to produce hits such as "Jive Talkin'" and "Nights on Broadway", both produced in 1975. In 1976 they came out with "You Should Be Dancing" and "Love So Right". Stigwood came to them and asked if they "contribute" tracks for "Saturday Night Fever", which was a disco film that Stogwood was producing in 1977. It would have the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever", and "How Deep Is Your Love". These songs would be big hits and make them "international stars".

After "Saturday Night Fever", the Bee Gees had 3 more big hits. These included "Too Much Heaven", "Tragedy", and "Love You Inside and Out". These were all on their album, "Spirits Having Flown", which was released in 1979. In 1983, there was a "Stayin' Alive" film that had been released. It was the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever". It was a sequel that everyone hated. In the 1980s the 3 tried to "distance themselves from disco". For the majority of the decade, they recorded as songwriters and soloists. During this time, they also acted as producers for other artists. Barry Gibb produced for and sang with Barbra Streisand. He also wrote songs for Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, and Kenny Rogers.
