I currently don’t know what I will be majoring in, and before having this conversation with my father, I was really nervous. Being undecided was something that I thought was going to be a bad way to start off my freshman year. I was really stressed knowing that I would have to narrow down and settle on one field someday, so I decided to sit down and talk with my dad about his own personal job.

 His story about his own journey was inspiring to me. Having this conversation made me feel more comfortable with my decision, knowing that everything will work out in the end. Talking to him also changed my point of view about his own field. I was definitely more interested in marketing and advertising as well and maybe that would be something I would want to purse in the future.

I think that learning the marketing and advertising process from someone close to me gave me a better look and feel for what it might be like for me if I ever go into that field. When my dad discussed how he first started off, i think that it gave me a good look as to how he handled it and how I should handle one of my first major jobs. I also think that my dad had some very good tips about what to do in certain situations. I thought that he made a good point when he talked about how people appreciate it more when people hand write thank you cards. I wouldn’t have thought of that like he said “it makes things seem more personable”. I am currently undecided as my major and have always been a little bit curious about the business world. It’s great to know how its changed over time and it’s cool to know what my dad does on a day to day basis because maybe one day i'll be doing something similar.
