I loved this series as a little girl because my mom would read it to my sister and I at bedtime. It sparked my love for reading, opened me up to realistic fiction, and inspired me to visit places for new adventures. The family dynamic was a mirror for me because my Dad was a huge history buff who added fun history facts to my book adventures and my mom was a stay at-home mom like the mom in the book!

As I grew, I got into the Nancy Drew series. I was so proud of reading these books independently and really connected to Nancy. She inspired me and made me feel that I could be just as capable, clever, and fearless as she was. I loved having a stay at-home mom, but I craved the independence and strength that Nancy represented.

This poem is a favorite of mine and I use it with my young writers. It helps teach the use of imagery in writing. Children love it because it's humorous, relatable and something they can easily picture in their mind.

This poem is the one that made me fall in love with poetry. I understood its deep meaning and used it to reflect on my life. I return to it when I have difficult choices to make or ponder the ones I did make. After all, it's message is about the choices we make throughout our life's journey. This poem reminds me that everyone questions their chosen path, hoping the lessons and adventures along the way have been the optimal of experiences.
