Tibetan Culture Club

This is a new student club students started this year. As a supervisor, I feel inspired by students' ideas to introduce the Tibetan culture to our school community. In International Peace Day, students had presented various parts of Tibetan culture to MS and HS students, including music, food, clothing, etc.

To help students process self-learning and improve their learning interests, I use a one-stop Chinese learning site, "Ricciwawa," in class. On this site, students can develop their language skills, especially listening and reading skills; meanwhile, they can also create the management skills of their time.

LatinX members and Spanish students for Peace

LatinX members and Spanish students have done lots of research about peace in Spanish-speaking countries. They have collaborated designing posters about activists that have worked for peace in their countries and for the improvement of lives in areas where minorities have been struggling. It all led to a workshop during International Peace Day where they heard from different embassies the efforts done in their countries to promote peace.

Chinese traditional medicine experience

HS Language classes went to ES to visit the Chinese traditional medicine exhibition, and experienced various activities, like perfume (spice) bag making, five animal exercises (Wu Qin Xi), Chinese traditional medicine differentiation, etc.

I have used Bing Chat to make different assessments and texts for my teaching materials.

Chinese ph.5 and French.3-4 are working on a unit about health and well-being. Some explorations are common to both subjects (Physical health and movements/well-being / healthy food/Chinese tea). During day 9, both groups will do 2 activities pertaining to their well-being: yoga and Tai Chi. Both groups will also go to the Chinese medicine exhibition organized by China the Studies Department.

I have used School AI to enhance my students' research in order to prepare them for oral summative assessment. School AI asks them questions before giving direct answers, so it is guiding and interactive. You can also monitor students' progress on the dashboard.

Gr. 9 pp2 students use Canva to do their reflection of the unit of "做家务“. Besides showing their language skills relate to this topic, they also interview an adult and learn a new skills of housework. They make work as an video to share their learning and survey.

Service learning in Chinese class

I have designed an unit for G9P5 which based on service learning project. The students will apply their criticality and creativity to understand what the challenges that people need to face when they get elder. They will focus on how to live in a healthy lifestyle and keep longevity first by doing investigation and interview and then will design a recipe book plus a finger exercise to the senior citizens. For the students who want to challenge more, they will learn the poetry and get some translation skills.

I used these AI platforms in gr.11 class to compare them in a natural setting: I asked the AI bots to take the role of a migrant (theme Experiences/migrations); I asked my students to interview the migrant person with spoken questions. Both AI were good but MIZOU was great for this activity. The variety of answers was amazing, the spoken French excellent and all the answers were accurate in terms of facts (migrant from Sudan and from Ukraine--> it explained the situation in both countries). The students were really engaged and enjoyed the activity.
