The reason for this is because on the island in LOTF this is how Jack felt, he felt free. Ralph represents the lyrics "Don't cast me out, don't deal me out again, i'm just a simple kid with a simple life trying to get out". I mean I'm really gonna miss you, though Good riddance I mean it's oh so sad to see you go". but we let it go on and on" when they set the island on fire.  Ralph on the other hand would be arguing about being civilized and saying something like "Will someone take a ride with me?

"Do you have the time? Do you hate your life?", I can see the LOTF asking Simon this while he patronizes him and makes him feel worried and sick. Did I, did I, did I do you right?", I feel like this is a reoccurring internal conflict with Simon where he knows the right answer to a problem that the group is facing, but either he doesn't speak up or gets his idea excused I feel like this is what he's thinking in those moments, this feeling is amplified due to how many times it is repeated in the song.
