The miners only had enough food for 2 days. It had been 17 days before they found all the miners safe and alive. Before they were found, they were surviving on a sip of milk and a spoon full of tuna each day. The engineers helping them sent down a glucose substance through a large tube. They used the Stratenin 50 to try and get the men out. Where they intended to rescue them was very dry so they had to bring in water. They started the drilling process to get the machine down to the men on August 31st but it would have taken about 3 months to complete. but, this plan failed. there was another machine that would hammer at the rock, but this had broke as well. They had a third machine but it would have taken 9 days to put it together. The two other plans get fixed and back up and running but the miners would be down there for another 4 months.
