(most country that are influential are big countries like US, China) Most small countries are either developing (Southeast Asia) or developed but not influential enough to change anything. Singapore can only choose to make friends with both China and US, but if it makes a stand, it might become enemy and even get attack by the country they are not supporting if any conflicts arise.
