In the song, it describes the main character when they were 11 finally realizing each other and getting to know each other, just like the story. Theresa simply noticed Victor until 7th Grade, where they spoke.

Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepson)
At the end of the story, when she asked Victor for french help, it was very similar to a modern-day "here's my number" even if she most likely didn't have a phone (or they didn't have cellphones yet).

Boys Like You (Anna Clendening)
Theresa and Victor most likely continued getting to know each other after French tutoring commenced.
Character Trait 3: Anti-Gossip (Distant)

Theresa was distant from boy drama, as it seems, because in class she acted interested and in a slight way, a class pet. She asked the teacher about ballet studies and raised her hand rather than shout her answer out. When she spoke to Victor for the first time when she was asking for French help, not to go out on a date or something romance related. She is on the right path to success away from guys.

For the time period they were in, she seemed to be the semi-popular basic girl who followed trends and what she liked. Ballet may have been a trendy topic for the other girls in the grade, so perhaps she wanted to get in on the action.

Contrary to another character trait valued by Theresa, she is a very bright and friendly girl. She is brave enough and smart enough (from what she thought Victor knew) to ask her pier for help. This is characterized by a strong growth mindset who is prepared to get down to business when necessary.

The Hate U Give (Angie Thomas)
The Hate U Give is about a girl who witnesses her friends death due to complications and misunderstood policemen. I think that Theresa would enjoy a good thriller which focuses on the life of this girl in a lower school such as the one in the book.
