         <title>Southern Colonies (The Chesapeake) </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Georgia - the last southern colonie.&nbsp;<br>Spain owns Florida, but Indians control Florida and are fighting against white men<br>Georgia serves as a buffer, which is why it was created<br>&nbsp;South Carolina cash crops : rice and indigo.&nbsp;<br>James Oglethorp founded Georgia.&nbsp;<br>Most of the people who lived in Georgia were poor people, people left in debt.. or criminals. It was a haven for them.&nbsp;<br><br>Carolinas :&nbsp;<br>1733 they split into North and south.&nbsp;<br>Poor whites lived there and religious decenters.&nbsp;<br>Row Nok Island : ordinal tempt to settle, Sir Walter Raleigh came with others and went back to being more white people. When he got back there was no one their. Crotain was carved in the trees. We tried 1st but failed.&nbsp;<br>Virginia :&nbsp;<br>Jamstown - king James the 2nd created a joint stock company named Virginia company n 1607<br><br>Slavery :&nbsp;<br>Poor blacks and poor whites<br>Why did white people stop being slaves/servants?&nbsp;<br>The black slaves were taken away from there comfort zone, they accepted the work more than Indians. All whites were born w/ entitlement. They had basic rights: Anglican Entirements.&nbsp;<br>Slave Codes: vast system of rules that guide the everyday live of slaves. Code of conduct: some stricter than other. Scare them and allow them stuff was a balance in having slaves.&nbsp;<br>Stono Rebellion: biggest in colonial history. Headed for Florida Georgia line to get to spains territory. 25 whites killed. They didn't make it though. They got there's heads off and put them on spikes and put them on the road to send a message. Slave codes became stricter.&nbsp;<br>Tide water erostacracy :rich whites:&nbsp;<br><br>Small farmers = largest group. only have 2-6 slaves that they take care of.&nbsp;<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
