The genre of the book is mystery.The reason I chose this book as my favorite is because it lures you into the book. Right from the beginning, Gil has a problem, and he has a mission. This book also has something that most other books don't have, and that is a game show. Gil has to complete different stages for the grand prize. (which includes cash, a collage scholarship, and a lot of Gollywhopper Toys) If you are in the Games, you have to be fast because you have to be one of the fastest contestants to continue to the next stage. Will Gil get to move out of his hometown?

It has some suspense that keeps you reading the book, and that there are some parts where you think the main character would lose but then he ends up back in the book just like that. The Golly Whopper Games is my favorite book because it was a book about this cool game show/contest and when you read those they definitely keep the reader if the book is good because you want to find out who will win the trophy or prize.
