The props or this music video just requires modern clothing. Otherwise, I think that the music video may seem tacky or cheap if there are lots of props.
If i were to use props, it would be small ones that would not be noticed easily but would add that extra addition of detail.

For a set, i think that the contrasting settings will prove to be dynamic and also very colourful. I was thinking to shoot in a forrest and street. These two different scenes would look great slightly underexposed with colour additions here and there.

My shoot would require:
A stabiliser/gimble
A tripod
A camera
A mic

The stabiliser would be used to get the slow following shots of somebody moving. This combined with still shots using the tripod will create two different types of shots and add stop the use of just one.
I would be using the colleges camera as it has great lens options and easily adjustable settings that can be chafed to fit the place we are shooting in.
I would also use a mic to get crisp sounds that can be added to the editing process such as car doors shutting so you can tell whats happening over the music.

Editing Techniques

Editing techniques that i would like to be including would be colour grading, visual affects, audio levelling, smooth slow motion, cinematic techniques, jitter affect and also various cuts.
These mentioned techniques will be used to make the music video the best it can be.

Colour Grading:
Colour grading will be used to make the colours in the music video the way i want. For example, if it is a gloomy day, i can make the day/scene brighter and more colourful.

Visual Affects:
These will be used to add detail and more character to the music video. This will enable me not to only show off editing skills but also enhance some frames with small details such as glares.

Audio Levelling:
I find that audio levels will prove to be quite effective. This will allow me to make audio louder than others such as music to raw audio/recorded audio ratio. I like the idea of recording audio to put over to push the video forward. This would be a audio clip of a car door shutting and that would be louder than the music, slightly, to create that extra detail.

Smooth Slow-Motion:
I find that smooth slow motion is hard to do, but i know how. Im not going to say how but it requires some camera skills and editing techniques and it will make the footage less messy and make it neater than t was before by a significant difference.

Cinematic Techniques:
Cinematic techniques will make the whole video look more professional and also a lot more enjoyable to watch. This is just some small changes but will make a drastic affect. Some of these techniques are just combinations of the things above.

Jitter Affect:
The jitter effect is a good way to match beats to clips especially in rap/hip hop songs. It is an easy process in which involves the screen shaking slightly.

Cuts:
Cuts are the way the clips change. You can add transitions but honestly, they look tacky in my opinion. I also think that too many cuts look very bad as well and i think that most videos that i have seen, in college production, can cut down their amount of cuts and it is very unappealing to me and also uncomfortable to watch.
In my music video, I will use the correct amount of cuts that i find very satisfying to how the video pans out.

Overall, i want my music video to be an impressionist style. This would allow the cameraman, editor and the producer to be able to show their creative side. Also by choosing an impressionist style , it would make the video more dynamic and also cinematic.
Combined with the impressionist idea, i would use long, mid and mid long shots to create an image of what the character in the music video is feeling and also show off the surroundings.
Personally speaking, i find that the music videos i have researched from other college music videos, they tend to use close up shots and i think that they make the video look slightly cheap looking as the are hard to pull off.

In the music video, the producer would have the actors or who ever is staring in the video to match the lyrics to some actions.
The lyrics can also be used to create an emotion and a feeling that I would want the viewer to feel. This will crate a visual representation of how and what the lyrics mean and what they portray. This may include props but not too many as i said before.

As the video will be shot off site, I have thought about he risks that can take place.
Primarily, Everyone would have to stay together to limit the chances of loosing people. This would be a very bad situation and result due to our ages and knowledge of unknown areas.
Also, if using public transport, we would have to be safe and make sure not to get hit by cars, busses, trains, ect.
Finally, a risk assessment of the location that we are shooting at would have to be made. This would be considering the danger via people, the danger via traffic and also the chances of anything bad to happen as we would have a lot of equipment with us

Scenario 1:
Scenario 1 is the consideration of weather. If it starts to rain or freak weather conditions apply, we would either wait it out or even just shoot the next day or when ever it passes over. This is a problem as it may break equipment or even give us colds.

Scenario 2:
Scenario 2 is if somebody is ill that day. I would make sure to find someone else to do that job wether it is editing or filming. This is the best idea as it will still let us complete that days task.

Scenario 3:
Scenario 3 is if we were to get turned away if we do not have a licence to film in the location selected. I think that this would be the worse outcome possible and would most likely not happen but if it did, we would ask how much it is and if it fits in the budget, stay, but if not we would go else where.

My budget for the music video would be next to nothing really. If needed, people would have to put a small amount forward if we need a licence but i would do research to where would be free. The only thing people would have to pay for is their own transportation costs if the group decide to go out of arlow.

My personal inspirations that are to do with film are Jake Angeles. He is a youtube video creator who makes videos every second day. He has his own personal, creative touch to his videos by making short, film-like edits that really motivate me. I will most likely recreate his style in my music video.
My uncle is also an inspiration in media as he edits television programs. He taught me some editing skills that i still need to develop. I will most likely use his skills via my music video.

Music Video Inspirations

A music video that interest me in style and technique wise is 'Still Breezy'. This music video has alot of the techniques and styles combined in one. One aspect I like is the transitions from the opening scene into the next shot in which intales a long shot transitioning into a mid long shot. This transitions is a spiraling shot. This adds character and change to the video. There are also layered shots where there are multiple of him that are faded and this adds depth.
I also like the one take videos by Futuristic as he includes lip syncing and lyrical connections. This takes a long time due to takes and actions. In editing terms, all that is done is added affects and also synced video to audio.
One more video that inspires me is 'Scarface' by Jaden Smith. This music video has every aspect of music videos that I enjoy. It has fancy camera angles, great editing techniques, an amazing performance and out of all, a sort of story line.
I really look up to this music video and find myself watching it a lot, especially the past week of doing this project. I think that I would really like to include feature from this music video in mine especially the camera angles and editing techniques.
I personally like the scene when he is perched on the wall and the 'scarface' runs past. This affects the screen by making it change from a grey scale type colour way to a normal full colour enhanced colour way.
Even the basic types of transitions and cuts made this a great feature.
I also especially enjoy the camera angles as they are modern and I enjoy th way they are taken and combined using the editors amazing skills.
This is by far my favourite and most inspiring music video.

My Chosen Song

The song I have chosen is 'Real Froends' by Kanye West. I have chosen this song as it is recent and also doesn't have a music video which is strange as he is such a big artist. It also has a good amount of bass/beat drops that i can sync cuts and transitions with. It is also not a very 'hard' song, it has a very satisfying beat that fits well with the lyrics. It is also a recent song in which i was looking for and am pleased that i found a song with no music video by such a heavily looked upon artist.
Below is an example of the song. It is not the original as that is not on Youtube but i will be using the real, full song.
It does have a few swear words in the first verse but they can easily be masked with music cuts or even the screech affects you hear on the radio clean edits. It is not a tough job.
The intro of the song buys me enough time to insert a artistic, impressionist type edit with cleaver transitions and shots. I also think that the beat and lyrics are slow enough for someone to be lip syncing with it and keep up with it.
I also like the idea of the mix between lip sync clips with some smoke in the back ground and also b-roll type shots or cinematic shots.
The combination of impressionism and the clever shots will make the video look professional and enjoyable at the same time.
