Key Development in the theology of the Trinity before 311 CE by Abrego, Jaylin

The Holy Trinity is one of the most sacred concepts of the Christian Church. This educational map highlights the origins of the Holy Trinity and how was it was interpreted by early Christians. The Holy Trinity is learned to be made up of three distinct "hypostases" (individual substances) that share the same divine "ousia" or essence. These individual substances were of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Father and the Son were seen as equal yet distinct. This understanding was significant in the development of Trinitarian theology before 311 CE. The concept of the Holy Trinity was still being developed after 311 CE and into a more concrete Christian belief.

The Trinity is the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons. The doctrine of the Trinity is one of the central beliefs of Christianity. It is depicted as God coming to meet the Christians as a three-person figure. One as the Creator, the Lord of salvation, as well as Father and Judge in the Old Testament. When Jesus Christ comes into the picture, he is said to be the reincarnation of God and the Holy Spirit. This first belief of the Trinity started when God first spoke to Abraham about the promised land, known as Israel.
