I found it to be very cute and unique, but a little confusing at times. At the end one of the farm animals plays a trick back on him and trims his wool to make him look like a poodle. I think this book is very light hearted and cute and good way to get kids to giggle a little bit. I like the blank pages with small pictures, I think it makes the book a lot easier to focus on. I think this book would be a nice way to teach my students what April fool’s day is and the history of the day, how it is used for jokes and pranks. As he tries to figure out where the sound came from he meets several other animals who begin to help him. They finally find out they are all looking for the same sound. They find a hole and there is someone in there who is very shy and they all introduce themselves and the thing in the hole was an owl and finally became more comfortable coming out and meeting everyone. I think this book says a lot about including others and making them feel welcome to the group. At the end in the midst of the craziness she tells her bear that no matter what all she needs is bear. This book is very cute and explains the importance of slowing down during a busy day and paying attention to those who mean most to you. Shortly after he plants his seed he begins to become impatient about why his seed hasn’t sprouted a plant yet. Finally, in the end after he was patient his plant grew and turned into a sunflower. I liked this book a lot because it really emphasized the power of being patient.
