I got three of the same size,shape and brand of container and poured ½ a cup of water that is  same temperature into each bowls and put them into the freezer at 12:42 pm.I then got the ice out of the freezer at 7:12pm and i then poured 1 tablespoon of sea salt in one bowl,rock salt in another bowl,and table salt in another bowl at 7:14pm and put them at the same elevation because heat rises and if one container is higher it could melt faster.

Independent variable:type of salt used. I used a tablespoon to equally measure each type of salt that would be placed on the ice 
Dependent variable:the time that it will take to melt the ice. I used a stopwatch to record the start and stop time. 
Controlled variable: ½ a cup of water that has been frozen in the same size and shape of container.1tablespoon of salt that was placed on the ice. Temperature of the room that the ice is in.
