In this activity, We learned that Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an educational approach that emphasizes active learning through real-world projects. By creating an infographic, we were able to engage with the content in a creative way, using our own research, design, and communication skills. The process of creating and presenting the infographic helped us better understand how PBL encourages problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking.

This activity highlighted the connection between PBL and language learning because it required us to not only gather and present information but also to clearly articulate and explain it in a way that others could understand. The project gave us the opportunity to practice language skills like writing, speaking, and organizing ideas effectively, all of which are crucial in mastering a new language. By working on a real-life task, we could see how language learning is more than just memorization—it's about applying language in meaningful contexts.

Trash Talk: A PBL Application

Project- Based Learning is a teaching method where students learn by tackling real-world problems through hands-on projects. We learned so much more than just about trash; we developed teamwork skills, problem-solving abilities, and even improved our communication. Working together on a real-world problem forced us to clearly explain our ideas, research effectively, and collaborate to create a final product.

This experience really showed us how PBL and language learning are connected – you can't effectively collaborate or present findings without strong communication skills, background information and multiple ideas. Indeed, it made learning fun and relevant.

Our digital story about debate aligns with Project-Based Learning (PBL) by allowing us to engage in critical thinking, research, and collaboration. It encourages us to explore various points of view, construct arguments, and present our ideas effectively. This process allows each of us to take ownership of our learning while also developing our problem-solving and communication skills.

This approach can also support language acquisition by promoting the active use of language in speaking, writing, listening, and reading. As we do our script, narrate, and refine our debate stories, we enhance vocabulary, grammar, and fluency. The use of visuals, audio, and peer interaction makes the learning more engaging and also reinforces language skills in a meaningful, real-world context.

Members:

Jessa Belle Arniego

Crisa Mae Deatras

Cloyd Gerios

Princess Mikyla Palencia

Markly Silgas
