Craft has remained over the years a popular form of activity embedded with meanings through their creation, and they carry the symbolism of the maker and relationships with other people. From village pottery to the sophisticated artistic machine products , it had came a long way.The question is Should we just "wave goodbye" to traditional skills like thatching and basketry? "Or should we fight to maintain them? Does there is a big shift in people's mind for value for handicrafts?

Crafts may provide a link between and within generations, serving as gatekeepers to friendships to family
For centuries, craft has been echoing the rhythms of daily life with its rich materiality, deep-rooted cultural identity and intrinsic values, such as providing good-quality work, expressing cultural and ethical mores and so on. It is generally accepted that craft and craftsmanship are essentially consistent with the principles of sustainability. For example Fabindia follows an inclusive model of identity of placing craft at the center of the quest for profitability and growth.

Craft and design are independent of each other, but in order for an object to be successful it needs both. I would say craft has more to human power as it attracts buyers with some emotional up stories and made them against disembodiment in all its forms and giives u the feeling of home with a family rather design doesnt give out special joy as it forgets the personal value of being.

The nature of the crafts sector and challenges faced by artisans and craftsmen reduces their ability to compete with machine-made products in current state, which made in decline in quality and/or workmanship, leading to the eventual loss of skills over a few generations like pashmina shawls where a traditional craft has successfully "contemporized" itself for Indian or overseas markets. The craftsmen, artisans all are feeling complex inferiority and backwardness but still it give life and value continuity and change.
