The heat from the fire heats up the wire which causes it to slowly get hotter and melt off the wax from the end of the wire.

The wire that conducted heat the best was the thickest one because it has a bigger mass so it can take in more heat to melt the wax.

The thickest one fell faster because it had the most mass out of the 3. Since it has the most mass, it conducts more energy which lets the wax fall faster.
