1. What is conduction? What is heat as defined in science?

The process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through a substance when there is a difference of temperature or of electrical potential between adjoining regions, without movement of the material.

2. Explain how conduction is demonstrated by the experiment that you are doing with the candle, wire, and the wax.

The heat from the fire heats up the wire which causes it to slowly get hotter and melt off the wax from the end of the wire.

3. Which of the wires conducted heat the best (melted the ball of wax first?

The wire that conducted heat the best was the thickest one because it has a bigger mass so it can take in more heat to melt the wax.

4. Explain with at least 2 sentences why that wire is the best conductor of heat. (Make sure to mention how the thickness of the wire helped your results)

The thickest one fell faster because it had the most mass out of the 3. Since it has the most mass, it conducts more energy which lets the wax fall faster.

5. Which of the ESLR's was addressed in this activity. Explain with a couple of sentences.

Being responsible members of society was addressed by working well with others and demonstrate a positive work ethic. Effective communicating was used by expressing creativity and demonstrating proficiency.
