According to local officials, the police officer who shot an unarmed man multiple times is on leave. The incident had been caught on a body cam, it took place around 9:30pm on November 11th. The police department had received many calls about a "gun fight". Witnesses had stated there was an intoxicated man threatening them with a gun. The bodycam footage from the situation shows the man keeping his hands in his pockets, and being shot for not complying with the officers demands. The officer who shot him had four years of service under his belt was put on paid administrative leave.

President Donald Trump eliminated tariffs on products from Brazil with an order on Thursday, his latest move to try to lower grocery prices. This means main food imports from Brazil like coffee and beef, which were on the way to 40% tariff lowering, will now import to through the U.S. tariff-free. Earlier this year, the president set heavy tariffs on Brazilian imports over with its governments orderss, specifically charges against their president.

In Western Nigeria, an unknown amount of kids and teachers were abducted by masked men with guns. The students and teachers were taken at around 2 A.M local time. The Niger state government said in a statement that it "has received with deep sadness the disturbing news of the kidnapping of pupils from St. Mary’s School in Agwara Local Government Area," and that the "exact number of abducted pupils is yet to be confirmed as security agencies continue to assess the situation." St. Mary's School still reopened this morning and resumed with classes. According to roll call, they have 52 students missing and are counting teachers now. There was another kidnapping on Monday near the Kebbi state where 25 school girls were taken. ABC News is working on finding more information.

A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI in a hit and run that struck and killed a 13 year old boy. The driver was on probation for a separate DUI incident. The crash occurred on Tuesday in the city of Dana Point, California. The teen who was struck, Luis Adrian Morales-Pacheco was on his way to school with his brother at the time. He was quickly transported to the hospital with severe injuries, where he died. His brother was unharmed. The alleged driver, a 59 year old named Bradley Gene Funk, was booked with murder, suspected DUI charges, and hit-and-run charges.

In Nigeria a unknown number of children were abducted from a school by a gunman. The incident occurred at about 2 am at St Mary's school located in Papiri. The Nigeria Police Departments said that, "Armed bandits" had "abducted a yet to be ascertained number of students from the school's hostel." After the event St Mary's school reopened and resumed with academic activity. 52 children were missing plus some of the staff. This has been going on currently because on Monday 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped in Nigeria at another school.

A grizzly bear attacked a group of schoolchildren and teachers on a walking trail in British Columbia, Canada, injuring 11 people, two of them critically.

The attack happened Thursday afternoon in Bella Coola, 700 kilometers (435 miles) northwest of Vancouver. The Nuxalk Nation said the “aggressive bear” remained on the loose Thursday evening and police and conservation officers were on the scene.

“Officers are armed. Remain indoors and off the highway,” the First Nation said in a social media post.

Two people were critically injured and two had serious injuries, Emergency Health Services spokesman Brian Twaites said. The others were treated at the scene.

A Georgetown law program is stepping in to help lead exoneration efforts for an 81-year-old KC man serving life in prison for the 1990 fatal shooting of his wife. In 1991, Ken Middleton was convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of his wife a year earlier. He was sentenced to life without parole, plus 200 years. His son said his father deserves freedom due to alleged prosecutorial misconduct. Also factors like a local judge ruling two decades ago that vacated his sentence and ordered a new trial based on a series of irregularities that made it unconstitutional. Despite evidence the judge cited in her motion, her ruling was overturned. He has remained behind bars due to a technicality in Missouri state law.

In April of 2024, three men were killed on a camping site in Ensenada, Mexico. The 3 killed consisted of Australian Jake, Callum Robinson, and Jack Carter Road. The three 30-year-olds had been spotted on April 25th by the 23-year-old Ary Gisell Silva for having good phones and a good truck. Ary proceeded to tell her other people in the group she ran with about the surfers, so on April 27th, the surfers went missing and were killed. The three bodies were found on May 3rd, and the three attackers were charged with murder not long after. But earlier this week, Silva was finally convicted of her involvement in the murders and served 20 years.

The FBI gained access to a Signal group chat where volunteer activists monitor public proceedings at New York federal immigration courts. This comes from an accusation of the US government violating immigrants' due process rights at these courts. The group chat is entitled "Courtwatch." The participants were found to use certain phrases to coerce authorities into giving them access to higher floors. It can be argued that basic civic participation is not a terrorist threat, whereas what ICE does with abducting people does violates basic rights. The Trump administration appears to be cracking down on leftist activism like this, which is not a good thing, because that's basically just eliminating your critics if you're a right-winged politician like Trump. In a country like this, we need critics and investigative journalists on both sides to keep things in check. It just seems like the administration is turning powerful national security agencies towards critics. This will definitely raise questions in the future about the rights of activists.

MIT has an annual tradition known as the tough ruck. The race includes carrying a 50 Lb backpack 26.2 miles. The tradition is to honor the fallen EMTs and military members. Josh Randolph is an AFROTC leader, and he has never missed a race since he joined MIT. He often encourages others to participate in the race. He hasn't let ROTC limit his experience at MIT either. Randolph has also joined the EMT course as a way to push himself out of his comfort zone, and he encourages others to do the same.

In Akron, Ohio, a man presumed to be unarmed was shot by a police officer on November 11th. The person who called the police reported an intoxicate man who was "brandishing a gun" in the parking lot. Bodycam footage from the officer shows the officer approaching the man on the sidewalk with his hands in his pockets, and had fired after yelling multiple times for the man to put his hands up and out of his pockets. The Akron Police Department currently has the unmentioned officer on leave while they investigate the event, quoting "Any time someone is seriously injured in an encounter with police -- even when responding to reports of a threat -- it is a serious and sobering event for our city. We owe it to the community to understand what happened and to learn from it."

The man is assumed to be alive in the hospital with serious injuries, and the 911 call of "an intoxicated man brandishing a weapon" hasn't yet been confirmed truthful.
