Wolk is very good at putting a image in your head. for example you can imagine what it must feel like to be in the situation with the soldiers. She also describes every detail about the characters. This sentence puts a very vivid image in your mind of what Toby looks like. It almost makes you a little afraid of Toby because of the way the author describes him.
