I think Mrs. Whatsit means that Meg's father needs rescued and the children will bring the courage to their father.  I also think Mrs. Whatsit means that their father is sad, because he left and that he can have love and compassion for the children, but not for himself.  I think what Mrs. Whatsit said is true, because their father does need to be saved. Their father needs courage, and he must be sad from leaving the children. Remember in a previous chapter? He went on a secret mission and the letters to the family stopped coming. In this endeavor Calvin's role is the protector. Calvin saved meg  from falling off of Mrs.Which, when they went up into thin air. 

In her role meg is the one who is reminding everyone that they have to get meg's dad back,she is motivating them by saying things like do not listen to the rhythm but you can look at it.
