To me collaborative learning is great method where children can exchange ideas, work together and help each other.
Children can satisfy their curiosity, learn in a different way, appreciate different way of thinking, develop creativity and work ethics and, above all, learn to work well with others to achieve same goal.

Unfortunatelly, my school doesn't have this kind of furniture and equipment. We work in group rearrangening  furniture for our tasks. After discussing in groups, each groups have time to prepare their findings using some of digital apps like ppt, Glogster, Bubbls.us.

I have made something similar to the "circle time". Each member of the group shared her/his views of collaborations within the group and their views of improvements.
Technology is useful in collaborative learning because today's children are surrounded with digital technology and the are familiar with it. The pupils tend to be a litle louder while working in groups, but they are trying to keep up to our rules of conduct in classroom. In that way the are perceptive of other work groups and work atmosphere. I don't assess work of each member of the group but only their assignment. In my opinion the major difficulty is combining different personalities and make them see the beauty of exchaning opinions and learning to respect and value others. But that is the one of the main points in collaborative learning. Some of my colleagues don't have desire and will to work on anything besides their subject and there are others who are all to eager. Maybe it is because they don't wont ot change their working habits, methods... or,  they don't want to admit the lack of knowledge.

Video is excellent...motivating, educational and realistic. I agree with everything that has been said. We, the teacher, are responsible to implement asspects of collaborative learning to our pupils. This was my two learning activities:

Low level of collaboration:
Pupils are devided in pairs and they have to work together on the same assignment (reading the same text and discussing it in between paragraph).
I would grade this as code 2. They are working together but they dont't have shared responsibility.

High level of collaboration:
Pupils are divided in small groups (up to 4) and they have to work on the same text/theme but each member have to work on their segment and be responsible for their part. In the end they have to put all the information parts together, make a desition which way to unite their finding and present their work to the other pupils in the class.
I would grade this as code 5. I always encourage my students to be an active paticipants in grading oneself and others. They are really objective and their assessment is always supported by more detailed explanations.

My students loves working in groups. I always try to group students in a diferent way then in previous group work. There is always students who are not so familiar with each other so working closely they learn to appreciate each other and learn to work freely and be relax in comunication and collaboration.

I agree with dr.Luis Valente that peer and self assessment are very important because it is helping them to objectively assess not only their involvement but their peers as well. It helps them to reflect how to improve their engagement through collaborative learning.
