It reminded me about how 

i have never been through what Anisa was feeling.

Also, I have never left my area and home, or my country, to escape war 

For safety.

The world doesn’t have much war due to peace.

I’m also sure that everyone is the world has been scared 

or worried at least once or twice. 

This book also reminded me about Syria. 

There’s also many wars written down in history that can relate to this. 

I’m sure.

Taxi reminded me of series of unfortunate events’ taxi driver.

It Reminded me about last years book that hilary read called the boy at the back of the class. The book was about a new kid. He was a refugee from Syria, and his friends are helping him to find his parents. It also reminded me about how in the series of unfortunate events. The children also had to leave there home and was feeling most of how anisa was feeling.

I know that allot of people need to flee there homes and become refugees  because the place they live is too dangerous.

Text to world: My text to world is the worlds water crisis , because of the image where she is carrying a bucket. This makes my wonder where she got the water from because it looks like she is in a desert. I imagine that the Africans that are going threw the water crisis at the moment maybe are in camps, maybe are not.

Text to text: This book reminds me of how to smile more from A to Z, because that book also mentions to imagine regularly. It is also similar to this book because it tells a story as well as a sort of way to be happier I guess. It reminds me of wolf girl, her house got bombed, she went to a camp twice and escaped them both. It is similar to other settlement and war stories I have read, leaving you with full stops on sentences that do not sound finished but describe others more. 

Text-to-self:This book reminds me of when my dad  told me a story that his colleague told him about how he was a refugee. He came from Afghanistan and went to a refugee camp in Russia and was able to come to Australia, on a boat, but his family could not come with him and they are still in the camp in Russia.

Text-to text: This book reminds me of a book called ‘the boy at the back of the class.’ Because one of the main characters are refugees coming to an English speaking country not speaking any English. But they both have big dreams of having a better life and being in a safe country. Where they can fit in and feel safe and happy. However in the boy at the back of the class he makes friends and starts feeling happy about his new life.

Text-to-world: I know that around the world there are millions of refugees who are trying to get a safe country away from a country were there is war, corruption or danger. I know that some survive but some die and it can be a very dangerous and illegal journey to get to there safe country wherever it is. I also know that most refugees are black and very poor.

Anisa was on a boat I went on a ferry once.

It reminds me of the books mum gave me when I was a little

Boy that where about the alphabet. It also relates to those poor people who are pushed around and killed during wars. 

I’ve also read a book at a library that was in the wrong section on genre. But I still read it and it was about people living in corrupt or countries in war that had to cross half the world to get to a safe place. 

I remember going to that park near the North Melbourne pool with my sisters friend and her dad. Their family was Vietnamese, he explained to me and mum what his life was like in the past as being in war and escaping jail and coming to a good safe place like Melbourne. Which is related to the war related things in the book that got read aloud to us. He explained the pain he had to go through and the walls he ran into on his way to a happy life. He succeeded but it was really sad to hear what he had been through. I can relate this to something that was in the news about some country getting hit by a huge barrage of missiles which sent the town into panic.

I could connect this book to documentaries and movies that are related to this sort of harm to people with no power and no good and healthy lifestyle. I have sometimes wondered in bed at night what it would be like and what I would to if I were in a situation like these people are in. But the thoughts I think are gruesome and horrible with a lot of pain, death and sadness. Other than that most people still try and save themselves because they have limitless hope to survive and live happily ever after in a safe place.

New hope like Anissa said is a video game line that I’ve heard a lot of. It’s also very powerful and can relate to many things. It’s also featured in allot of adventure movies and books It’s a powerful line and it always gets you thinking about what’s coming next and makes your mind start racing.

I can relate to her when she said really scared I could relate as that’s exactly how I felt during the bushfires. I was scared that somehow the fires 🔥 would spread in to the city and burn everything I knew. Terrified that my holiday house would burn down. I felt this during the heat of the pandemic as well as I was scared that I or my family would get infected and get seriously injured or even die due to the virus.

The bombs in this book can easily relate to the fighting in Pakistan 🇵🇰 and in Israel 🇮🇱. I can imagine that many many families in those places are going through something similar to Anissa and her family. I really hope all those people find somewhere safe to live and never have to go through this ever again.

Anisa’s alphabet is similar to my life because in point Lonsdale every year we have a tent not a caravan. This means that it is very hot. It is not very nice to be in there in the middle of the day because it is very hot

Anisa’s alphabet reminds me of Star Wars the force awakens and Star Wars rise of skywalker because at the start Rey didn’t have much money. But at the end she finds the yellow lightsaber. This is similar to Anisa’s story and anisa probably eventually finds what she wanted.

This reminds me of refugees around the world like Anisa. It must be very hard for them. You would be stuck in a hot stinky refugee camp with heaps of other refugees in the same tent. I am almost certain that no one would like that. But you wouldn’t even have a choice because you don’t want to go back to your home country. 

○ Text to self: This reminds me of when my dad told me about when he was a refugee and how he had to go on a squashy boat when he was 13. It reminds me of this because Anisa is a refugee and she has to do the same thing. They both also had to travel away from their homes. 

○ Text to world: There have been many wars and battles in the world. This reminds me of that because in the story there were bombs and explosions. The battle in this story reminded me of the ongoing war in the Middle East about who would own the land.

I have never been in a war or attacked by other countries, unlike this book. But there might be a time where I will experience a nightmare like this. I have been on a boat and had been scared that it was going to drown. I have been on a very old ride in Lunar Park and I thought it was going to collapse since it was so wobbly. I  become hopeful if something good is likely to happen. I have felt scared if I’m alone for a while, I imagine Anisa being terrified. I have not been left alone at night and not been in big danger.

We have all experienced fear at least 5 times in our life, but this book was about growing more scared.

It reminds me of a text we read last year called “The boy at the back of the class.” It included a refugee just like this book. This book reminds me of a book my friend recommended called “Wolf Girl” and apparently it is about a young girl getting stranded because her parents left her when people were attacking her country. In this book she was stranded and scared, just like Anisa. 

In the series of unfortunate events, the children felt afraid and scared like Anisa since their parents were gone. I have read a bit of wolf girl and her family also carrys and packs everything they can.

That wars happen in a lot of countries, it’s very dangerous and bombs are currently being used on a country. The history of the whole world has had a lot of wars and fights, bombs and smoke included. Those people in wars had to flee in midnight and take whatever they could. I can imagine seeing a bunch of refugees on the news, in hot white tents, just like the book. The book also reminds me of scary events that happen in real life.

The old boat reminds of Viking movies like a lot of pirate movies that my mum’s partner watches and it also reminds me of how to train a dragon when they are on the massive Vikings boats.

 In the book Anise had to stay in a hot tent as well as a lot of hot tents outside. This reminds me of the hot and Smokey bushfires early last year when every thing was scary but definitely not scarier than Anise’s journey since she had no food and water and she was wondering if she would survive the day.

The bombs are like the war in Israel because with war there comes bomb that sadly kill a lot of people and that is the case in Israel. And it is the same Seiria which is a partner state.

Th part of the story where it discuss the fact the she is a refugee reminds me of the book my teacher last year read to the whole class called, the boy at the back of the class. it was about a new kid from Syria who sought refuge in London and couldn’t find his family.

This story shows real life experiences happening when ever a war happens. It is a refugee experience from fleeing a country and staying in a camp to another country.

Anisa’s alphabet was about a story very different to my my life. her life was incomplete something missing and that was a home unlike me with my cozy house. She also had to sleep on hard ground without air conditioning to protect her from the heat outside her tent at the refugee camp, which was like Australian  weather but I have a home and air conditioning . Anisa was scared and frightened away from but I don’t leave my home country unless it is a holiday. Anisa’s life was ripped away but nothing happened to me

I have not had to travel rough like anisa. I can travel peacefully on a lovely aeroplane while Anisa  has to travel by boat in a storm on the rough see, barely afloat. I have never experienced being in a country where there are bombs because where I have come from is very peaceful.

This book reminds me that there is a war happening In the Middle East like there is in the book. Lots of people there might be feeling how Anisa is feeling. The book also reminds me of World war 2 where so many people were suffering like Anisa.

The text reminds me of when I meet a refugee. This reminds me of the text because the main character is Anisa and is also a refugee. I met the boy a long time ago though. I don’t remember what country he left but I now the boy is now happily living in Australia and likes over here. This person is similar to Anisa because they are both refugees but they are different because the boy I met has a place to live unlike Anisa, who is still trying to find a home.

Anisa’s Alphabet reminds me of a book I read back in grade 4 called The Boy at the Back of the Class. The book is about this new kid who is a refugee from Syria and goes to a new school. The new kid meets some other kids who help guide him through school and they become best friends. Similarly, Anisa’s Alphabet is about a girl who is a refugee even though Anisa is still trying to find the home whereas the kid in the boy in the back of the class has found a home. The story’s character is can of like the girl who is called Anisa and has to go through multiple challenges to get to her new home

Since Anisa is a refugee, she probably had to escape from a place experiencing terrorist attacks. In the world, there are many terrorist attacks. Most of them happen in Israel even though they happen all around the world. This makes me very sad to think of all the people getting bombed. Like the story, most of the things happening in the book actually happen in the real world.

Text  to  Self   : This reminds me of when I came to Australia for the first time. Like Anisa I was scared when I went on the plane. But Anisa wasn’t scared of the plane she was scared because she had to run for her life.

Reading- making connections

Text to self: This text as made me appreciate where I live and where I was born. Australia is a safe country - for now at least! Compared to where Ansisa’s family and community live , we don’t have to flee the country! Feeling forced to do something would be horrible, especially leaving the place you were born and grew up. You might never see your unsafe home again.

Text to text: this book reminds me of ‘ Little Refugee’ because it is about a family has to flee the country because of war. This text and ‘Little Refugee’  have things in common; like how the family felt and how they escaped.

Text to word: The bombs dropping reminds me of the war going on in Afghanistan. Being scared is what the people are feeling in places of war.

When she started talking about carrying everything you can and hot tents it reminded me of camping in the Grampians, going on long tiring hikes in the 35 degrees heat up and down mountains under the blazing sun. In a way I could connect with her, a hot tent filled with relatives is never nice 🥵!

Though not entirely obvious, I found a connection in Anisa’s Alphabet connecting to one of the Star Wars movies. This particular movie is: ‘The Force Awakens’. In it Rey ends up leaving her home to do something important. Anisa does the same, she leaves her home to do something important: to stay alive.

In Anisa’s Alphabet, a problem she continuously has to face is danger. Like many refugees she is scared yet determined, she doesn’t want to give up. A problem the world has to deal with is a strong flow of refugees coming in from different war torn countries.

I remember travelling across the seas but I didn’t go on a scary boat and did not have to sit in very hot tents waiting to be able to travel away and was not considered a refuge .

this reminds me of how hitler treated the jues in World War Two  which was not okay I see the Similarities

this reminds of the poster everyones alphabet because the set up is very similar in the way that they both have a alphabet set up but every ones alphabet is a text of what not to do and what is not okay (in the art room).

People some times haft to move because of bombs or war in real life and it’s not good and shod stop.

I traveled to Japan but l had food and water and I traveled on a plane but Anisa was on boat and it sank so emergency people saved them.

I feel sad that Anisa has to go through being a refugee. I think more people in charge should stand up for refugees. It reminds me of kangaroo island in Australia were refugees in Australia are forced to go to or leave the country. I think it is really unfair that depending on were you live and if you have a passport for another country or not you are treated differently.

This book reminds me of a number of different types of books like those alphabet books for little kids. It also reminds me of history books and war books. It especially reminds me of a series of books by Morris Gleissman or something like  that. In the books by Morris Gleissman there are 2 people running away from a war.

This book reminds me of a lot of real life issues. Like homelessness and refugees not being able to find a home. Even though there are still lots of problems I think we are moving forward to solve them like shelters and more country’s allowing refugees in there country.

The book “Anisa’s Alphabet” is similar to the book “when we say Black Lives Matter”. They are both about Indigenous Australians been treated unfairly. But they also have a lot of differences. The book “when we say Black Lives Matter” mainly want to persuade us that Black Lives Matter. And the book “Anisa’s Alphabet” want to tell us about Anisa’s visualisation about the long journey that she has been attack and has to find a new home.

One of the pictures in the book, which is Anisa’s drawing, reminds me of me and my sister’s drawings at home. In the book, Anisa put her visualisation in her drawings. And my sister and I put our visualisations in our drawing as well. My sister is only in grade 1, but she once draw a very meaningful drawing. In her drawing, she put the Indigenous Australians and one side, and the white Australians at the other side. Then she drew a white dove that has a green wheat in its mouth. And she said that she wants them to be peaceful.

One of the pictures in the book shows the view of the campsite. Which made me thought of ski camping in September. But suddenly, I realised that the two camps are totally different. Anisa’s campsite is full of depress. But my ski camp, is full of joy.

It reminded me of the time when my grandma told me a story about a Vietnam war and how she took care of my dad. She told me that they would hide in concrete walls, swim through rivers to hide and more. I had a lot of questions like did they find you? Or what happens if they found you? Well she answered, they never found us, we stayed there everyday and never came out only if it was something important. Well I wouldn’t have been Ruby and probably ended up as another person, only if they didn’t survive and if my mum had never met my dad 😌👌.

This book reminds me of the book ‘Stand up! Speak up!’ Because sometimes when people protest, some of them get killed or get locked up for a particular reason. And 

In the book, the family also gets bunched up and squashed in tiny tents where they have to stay.  The different thing though is that in Anisa’s Alphabet there is more of a meaning in the book. And in Stand up Peak up there aren’t really any fighting in the protest or anything like a normal protest would look like. But both of the books still both relate to each other .-.

The book reminds me of, “when we say Black Lives Matter” because both texts talk about how they are being treated differently from normal people. The difference between the two texts is that in Anisha’s alphabet it says she was treated differently because of a war going on where she lived while in “when we say Black Lives Matter.” They were treated differently because of their skin tone.

It reminds of the Israel vs Palestinian fight gong on because in anisha’s alphabet a war was happening so she had to leave her home. In Israel people had to go to bomb shelters and watch their homes blown into bits and pieces of hard brick. The story and real life both include that people have to leave their home to be safe from the treacherous war going on where they lived or near where they lived.

I have no idea why but it somehow reminds me of the fire that went around in Australia in 2020. I think it reminded me of this because during the bushfire thing was going on it felt as if Melbourne just got nuked because the air was all red like a mushroom cloud and everyone was walking around carrying face mask to protect them from the deadly air. In Anisha’s alphabet the sky also had a dim red colour.

Anisas alphabet reminds me of a book which is when a family had to run and sailed off onto the sea when there home was being bombed,It reminds me because of how she went onto a boat like the family.

I remember on holiday when we went to this museum like place and people traveled by boat to get to Australia,This reminded me when Anisa went onto the boat and had to combat huge salty waves.

The book shows how war can kill and chase after people,Like in the world when people grab as much as they can and run faster then ever,Trying to avoid terrorists or soldiers.

T - T - S : This book reminds me of my mum. She worked on a alphabet book. That’s really the only thing they have that’s alike. Her’s is about a alphabet full of cuddles, hugs and comfort. “Anisa’s alphabet” is about a tragic story of a family of refugees that suffer a long an unpleasant journey.

T - T - T : This book reminds me of the book “day break” a powerful book with an even more powerful message. That message being, we will continue to fight. Anisais a refugee and she has to keep her hopes up. That’s really all she has. In “day break” the author explains how a young black girl gets up early on Australia Day. She heads out to the middle of the country to connect to her elders. 

T - T - W : This book makes me think of all the poor souls that have had to endure unfairness. All the innocent people punished. Punished for a religion. Punished for a culture. Or worse of all, punished for no reason. 

“They sleep in tents, get scared in tents, draw in the tents and talk all night in the tents” this reminds me of when I went camping with my cousin we did the exact same thing. We got scared in the tents because we thought there was a monster, we talked all night and we also drew all night. The texts are similar because we almost did the exact same thing in the story. They are different because we did all of those together, while Anisa did them one by one. For example, at one time of the night she drew, one time of the night she talked and me and my cousin did them altogether. I felt sad when I read this text because it is a story about war after all.

This story Is about war, So it reminds me of when I watched a girl and her family going to Israel where all the War was going on. They are similar because  they are both about war and how they are different is that the book called Anisas alphabet was shifting, they were moving to many differeny places while the girl in Israel just stayed at home.

This related to the world because a War is a real thing that happens. A war is very deadly and can kill many innocent people. The story may be a nonfiction text about wars. Almost every text about wars is nonfiction because it is a real and deadly thing. Many Wars have happend before just like the Isreal one and Anisas alphabet one.

This book reminds me of another book that I once read, where their country was getting bombed and a war started. The had to live in hot tents too, and it made me think if both of the authors really care about bombing to stop.

The sentence “O is for old boat, heading to sea.” Reminds me of when I went on a boat, and the water splashed all over me. I also went on another boat, which was one of the ones that have like and inside with a bunch of seats, and a bar. It was just a tour though. It makes me feel bad that they had to go on an old boat.

This book reminds me of the problem in the Middle East, about Israel bombing Pakistan, and they are having a big war. It makes me feel scared, that the war might get worse, but I sure hope it doesn’t. It reminds me of this problem, because they are also getting bombed like Anisa’s country!.:)

“B is for bombs, when the fighting began” reminded me of the Palestinian and Israel conflict mostly because of the violence and that the weapon they used most on eachother were bombs. This is a text to world and text to text because I am Palestinian and this revolves around me and my people and because this is all around the world on news. Both lands are fighting for more and none of them have succeeded but it’s really sad that they are doing this. Why can’t they just be kind to eachother is my question sand it’s sad that there are refugees like Anisa.

This book reminded me of the btn episode we watched at school that had a little bit of information about the conflict and helped me understand it more. I don’t have much information about it because I can’t remember it very clearly.
